The guy's a Goth! He's morally obliged to shun bright and colourful! :rotfl:

I am a sloth, so I shun the sun, sounds close to a Goth...

Great work, Skells, but I too would like to see what you did with some Slaanesh or something. But not a Marine. Actually, a duel between a Bret and a Greenskin would be cool, so you could get bright and dark going.

Though it would kind of be fun to see skels work on a marine... IF we video taped his face throughout the procedure... We might have to edit out the vomiting and such before posting it though...

i can give you shiny but bright seems impossible :D i have tried, seriously, but all i can see is lack of contrast. just some more shading.... just some more... lol

okay though i shoud get myself togheter with next project and post pictures much more, as soon as i got an update worth mentioning. perhaps not entierly day-by-day but as close as i can. lets see how it works out.

i got a new kickass lamp! well, in comparison to the 5 euro Ikea lamp i had before anyway. it just had taken one beat too much from junior, and when it starting to smelling burnt when you turn it on it just doesn't feel that fun anymore, ducttaped and all...
Here you can see the new glory in the picture togheter with some bananas and a sewing machine. Errm. Me and the Mrs is battling the very limited hobby area (also called kitchen they say) in our home... oh well. Chaos!!

on with the mini. construction time again. basebuilding version 0.1 as i should listen to my own advice and construct the base first, right? ;) just carved out some structure in plasticard and filled the bulk with air drying clay just to get basic shape.

cleaned and assembled arms on the big rat so far, will require some filing and sanding to get perfect. mixed the greenstuff with 60-70% milliput white to make that possible.

cut off the big bad weapon, put a cute empire guy in his hand instead. swap! much more fun to paint :) human is taken from the wh giant, which is pretty much the same size as this rat (yep, he is big)

I think when I came back to the forums April of last year you had some rats in progress. You were definitely burned out on them if it took you this long. ;)

Wow, I thought my hobby area was cramped. But two milk crates and a board make a workable table. Heck, two chairs and a board work too. lol!

And I think I have Skyrim memorized even though I never played it. My son got the vampire download and has now beaten the game so many times I've lost count. One thing I've learned - don't watch him play first person on the big screen tv when I've got a pounding headache.

cheers!
Kath, those rats were large but this is huge, they seems to be growing ;)
ive beaten the main story too in skyrim, but there are like a million sidestorys and mini-missions to accomplish i dont think i ever going to full beat it, if its even possible, lol. anyway im glad i have been detoxified.

rat been fully assembled exept the hand holding the guy. think i can paint it like this without too much trouble to reach all areas. here he is, on one of those cool holders derwish sells, guess half the painting community uses them now right? :) good stuff. this is the 54mm version, not sure ill use it for this rat though as its some problem to fixate him on it.

Oh SLM sent me an email with that holder! It's very interesting. I wish I could try it first because it might help me with the hand tremors or it might be a disaster. Because I have to keep most of my arm and even my hands sometimes braced against the table, I can't work on the mini as upright as what I'm seeing.

All of my stuff, I have to lay flat on the table and I'm constantly shifting it upright to double-check shadows and highlights.

But I still want to try that holder! lol! Let me know what you think of it Skel!

cheers folks! not much to update really, been ocupied with real life business this weekend like mrs celebrating her birthday and other time-stealing things lol but the fella has been primed (white) and basecoated with a mix of approximately ½ tentacle pink and ½ elf flesh (citadel). 3 layers of basecoat to get it even... now the fun begins!

Kath, the holder seems pretty good but i cannot make a fair review yet as the rat doesnt really fint into it. right now i use it without the handle (as can be seen above) which work ok but the revolutionary effect isnt there.

Pinky (& the brain brain brain brain brain :)

Albino?

Looks like you've not used your airbrush to start with the basecoat. Any reason for that?

@Kath:

I am using the holder for several painting.hours and am really suprised how good it improves the handle of a miniature while you're painting. currently all of those holders are sold out, but they will be available from january on again. So no reason to be sad.

cheers arne no worry he is going to get a lot darker before im finished, so nah no albino. dont think i even could paint an albino rat :D

not been using my airbrush as i havent learned to use it properly yet. perhaps i will practise more when i have time after the GD tour. but i do prefer regular brush anyway. oh and really need a new needle (a new gun, really) to be able to do something properly with the AB...

Take a quick look at the bay. You can find different AB-pistols for a decent price which are compeltely ok for just priming bases, BIG rats or recoloring Miriams stewing machine ;)
