thanks folks :)

@solun; yeah was initially wondering about the grey skin but glad you explained.... ty!

@cileo; the legs are from the rider of the chaos manticore set, and then yeah sculpted the belly.

@chad; nothing less fun than to paint a guitarr :D hard to begin Elvis before i finish the toad, as i really enjoy that mini and want it finished. boo. i suspect elvis will be painted within a week, speedpainted by my standards...

attached the rider, finally! og course there were issues. first, i had to cut the handle of the axe, as it was just in front of the blunderbuss (d'oh!!) i added after the painting had begun. had to fill pretty large gaps with gs as it didnt entierly fit, but no biggie. ive been through worse assembly post painting ;) looks wierd right now with different green on the stomach, the below part is basecoated cammo green.

pretty interesting how photobucket actually flatten the colors a lot, making it way less vibrant.

what left:

*axe handle
*belly+guts
*severed head on the toad
*chains connecting riders hand to toad
*toads horn, fingers and fingernails
*base...

Love all the little details you are adding to 'da toad. However every time I look at that short handled axe, I am distracted. Could you add a longer curved handle to avoid toad interference? It just looks ofF IMHO relative to the rest of the outstanding work. (of course if this was my paint job, I would have been happy with it a long time ago:)).

thanks for input krulebear :good: i cant personally say im that bothered, but at the same time im very aware of that it looked better before i had to cut it. ill look into what i can do about it to get more balance. not sure i want to completely change the handle, to much work...

Giving it a longer, curved axe handle will give it much more balance. One hour of work more or less, c'mon :) Besides that, the custom work and paintjob are awesome as ever. That toad's eye follows me in my dreams.

you can relax now guys, axe handle has been taken care of! its curved and even longer than before ;) thanks friends!
It's funny, I had assumed that it was left off for painting. Thinking it was obscuring some other details or something. Glad to hear you have taken the steps to turn it into a proper ax. Paint's looking phenomenal.

Enjoying this one lots. Finally got round to buying plague bearers after lurking on this thread for a while - didn't like them at all when I saw the GW photos, but I reckon they should be giving you royalties for their sales. I know its a pain, but could you not remove the hand holding the axe and change the angle at which it is held? It doesn't look like a wholly natural position at the moment IMHO.

thanks chad :good:

ozy, thanks for kind words :) as said, i think the plague bearesrs is the coolest kit in a long time produced by gw, and great value of money. changing position of the hand at this point is frankly out of the question though. and personally i think the pose looks really good now when the handle is extended (really glad i was talked into that ;) )
