Well Finn that can be a fun experiment and I am just wondering what kind of grade it would recive in the end if we post it here? :) Regarding skill level that is not the important part just meet and have fun with a hobby that we all enjoy.

There is always the possibility to look how other work and learn, often gives more then to just read articles.

Mostly just fun to meet with other people.
:)

Hfamily111, well with the rate of none skel item that we write here I guess it might add up to Two pages soon...

/Kretcher

I can supply minis as long as i can keep them afterwards. :) About what grade it would receive, I said half an hour keeping in mind that the bars close at some point. :p

Ischa, what do you say? I would add that I understand completely and do not take offense if you say no. :)

two steps forward, one step back...

finnpalm, sounds like a fun idea but unfortunately as my time to spare for painting is indeed very limited i prefer to use every precious second for my display painting. but no, no elitism ffs! you are welcome to join in even if you just dip the minis. sort of :D

well i guess i have to update some photos then. as said 2013 hasnt been very kind to SkelettetS's family, yesterday the mrs was sick again in stomach disease. fun never ends it seems! anyway...

got the exhaust pipes painted at least, took more time than expected, but im lucky to be in no hurry with this mini. realised as the torso is going to lend a bit forward, the sky/earth has to be repainted at the bottom plate part of the back (doesnt show that much in these pictures though, but it has been basecoated for a second run...) have to think through every piece before i paint, d'oh!
also fixed most of the edges and lines so it should look better now.

Realized just now that you're painting it chrome (duh). Which leads me to reflect, and this is in no way meant as any criticism towards your choice of colours: when painting chrome nmm, why is blue tones more prevalent as opposed to a cloudy overcast grey or even a almost black blue night sky? Or is that just me?

finnpalm; well i actually begun with grey sky with just a tint of blue, but it look pretty dull and boring. i guess the blue sunnyday-notacloudonthesky-blue is more common for sky as it simple enough work best for making the illusion of chrome or at least i believe so.

thanks 10 ball :)

Perhaps you're right. It just reminds me of 80s airbrush art. :)

Shinny!!! Well, I'm not a great fan of these particular minis, but the painting job so far is amazing skell. I really like how you play with the highlights to give definition to the several plates. Thumbs up!

...

And so it does. Nice work. I look forward to seeing this one progress. The SENMM on the exhausts is pretty cool in a cartoony sort of way. I wonder whether slightly more monochrome on the exhaust would create a greater sense of realism (and be easier to weather). Not that I'm advocating repainting. More just thinking out loud. Dangerous habit. Probably a sign of incipient madness. *walks away muttering to self*

thanks friends, im happy you like it. im also happy for all critizism and such, senmm is tricky stuff indeed! :)
had to make some repainting on the exhaust pipes, as the sky/earth line was leaning too much so he had to lean forward a great deal to make it correct when i pose him, so now a slightly straighter line there. hope i can move on now!! ;P

ozymandias; actually painted the pipes in a grey scale at first with just a tint of blue/brown. it just looked dull. even if it do look a bit cartoony right it look much more interesting with this higher saturation.

i seriously dislike senmm, just think it looks like something out of a beer commercial:p really liking the clean blues and the nice lines though.

i seriously dislike you ischa, so i guess it makes it even lol :D. seriously, im not a huge fan either, but i think it could look pretty cool when executed correctly. its hard to get a realistic feeling of it though.

thanks Trystan! :good:

so, another week, another stomach sickness. but well now again at least, if i dare to say so. i have yet again made the mistake to try paint when sick, just a waste of time really as it never turns out good. but, ive managed to finish the "base of the base" at least, but this is the second version painted after getting well :) the original idea was to use a broken mirror base, all the stones on it is originally mirror. but it didnt look as good irl as it did in my head. so, primed the whole thing white and painted it marble-ish. used some plasma burn (well, blue) MIG pigment. will probably add a few bits later but keep it pretty clean. feels good to have the base done as it usually feels like a pain to make after the mini is fully painted!
