You might have already seen enough of this guy, but after I saw a fantastic painted one by Durham Red, I wanted to give one myself a try. I'm not getting anywhere near his, but I am statisfied with this mini. Got to use some other methodes for painting him.

Anyway, off to the pics. I'd be happy if you could vote for him too here:

love the way you blended the blue's on the body really nice. the shield however seems to blend into the scales on the back, its difficult to differentiate between the two maybe a lighter shading around the edges of the scales on the shield like they've faded something like on the back plate 's of a nid.

Yeah, some nummy blues there. It has a real feeling of solidity, and smoothness. Nice metallics too, especially the gradient on the helmet.

I'd consider an extra stage of highlights though. higher contrast on the skin could give it a more shiny/reptilian look. One on the straps could give them punch and stand out more from the body.

The base is nice too. Complimentary rather than distracting. although the leaves around the edge of it, there's some errant flock on some of them, and the green of the leaves doesn't appear to be as finished as the rest of the mini.

As Cassar said, that shield does tend to blur into the body. Perhaps the shield could be tinted, glazed with some watered down ink. Green or purple could be as far as it need go from the alternative blue to stand out, though really I suspect picking out a few edges for highlighting would be neccesary on that particular model as the shields lumpy bits echo the scales on the back so closely.

Thanks both! Great tips there. The base was a bit rushed because I had to finish it but now I have time to change things.

Very nice work on the blue! As said, maybe another stage of highlights. The leaves on the base to can get a little fixer upper.

I also agree about the shield mingling in with the body. You wanted to show the scales on the shield came from one of the bodies, right? I get it, but I think more vriation would help. Maybe if it was based with the same blue but shaded differently you'd get the same impression but break up the model some?

But very nice job. I do want to paint that model now too!

This is a nice guy, the blue of the body is pretty good. I just think the shield should be another colour than the skin. The base is very good, perfectly lizardmen.

VERY nice! And a great photo, too! Maybe it's just me, being a fan of more vibrant colors, but I can't tell if the photo is a bit dark or if the color is muted and dark. I always picture Lizardmen as being a RIOT of bright color, so I can't really tell.

The paint job itself is GREAT!!! VERY subtle blends and great control with the brush! I agree the shield should be a bit more separate from the back of the model, but that can be easily done, I think. Great base, too!! I always suck at custom bases like that...

Great job!!
