ive just started working on my lizardmen army(again) due in no small part to the idea of 3 stegadons,

ive already decided im going to do a dark grey skin tone with a hint of brown but ive hit a small problem, i don\'t know what colours to do on the scales to ofset this as im using a dark grey + yellow scheme on my saurus,

any ideas?

I reccomend continuty if your saurus are black and yellow I would say stick with the theme.
My personal armies are almost always one strong color (like your yellow), one more neutral (like your grey) and then one acccent color (like maybe a purple or blue).
I find the more consistent a color scheme from unit to unit the better it looks on the battlefield.
Altho I can understand that it is a bit borring to paint the same colors over 100 models (ive been there)

id perhaps try patches of yellow to off set the grey instead of streaks try looking for pictures of frogs or lizards and look how the colouration is on them
