Whoa!!! Beautiful!!! I love your color choices on this one! The play between the orange/red/purples and the blue/gray/greens is... almost mesmerizing! I just sat and stared at it for about 5 minutes. And the longer I looked, the more I liked it. I just kept finding more and more subtle shifts and blends of color. I really like the base, too. Not too plain, but subtle enough to not distract attention away from the figure. Very, very nice work.

Nice blending! I like how you painted the different textures to represent different materials. But I\'m not a great fan of the colourscheme. It has some cool colourshiftings, but I don\'t think the colours go well together. I think the main problem for me is the cloth between his legs, if you\'ve picked another colour like that blackblue it could have meant a great difference. One more nitpick, you could have added a touch more shading generally, but most noticable to the face. I have to say it\'s not my favourite job from you, becasue of the things noted above, but still nice. (8)

I think a problem with the blue/purple/orange cloth is that the blue/purple and the orange/purple has basically the same brightness (at least in the photo) so the purple don\'t really work that well as highlighting. That\'s my thoughts on it, at least.
I agree with Sven that the mini lacks in shading in places. Especially on the red/pink/orange parts, but also on the sword.
The blendings are excellent though. This is good work, but definitely not your best. Hope I don\'t sound too harsh...

Well, you see, the initial idea for the cloth was to make it look like taffeta. You know, the thick silky fabric that changes color on its folds in different lighting. Here I found a sample of what I\'m talking about, it doesn\'t show too well but I believe it gives a rough idea:
As for the shading, it was intended, too. I wanted to make a really bright miniature, and instead of the regular shading, I went for color blends. Works for me:bouncy:

About the taffeta effect, I kind of thought that was the intention. It\'s not the easiest thing to mimic, and I sure as hell couldn\'t tell you anything about how to do it better... :innocent:

Okay I understand. That\'s a great idea to mimic. Especially for a Slannesh champion, seems fitting. I thought it was really cool I remember when I first saw a car which laquer had a similar effect. But I think that it shifted to green aswell.
Hm. I\'m thinking that the colourshift is there but it needs the sheen or \"glares\" produced by a light source. However I think that will be very hard to do.. the only technique I can think of is using the special feathering technique that Eric uses for glares. Adding white and then brushing it away without much colourmixing. Or else there\'s a risk of getting ugly pink or orange midtones.

Margo, wonderful job. You really pushed the contrast on this one. Don\'t think I\'ve ever seen one quite that dramatic...sweet! Thanks for the inspiration, one of these days I\'ll paint half as well, then I\'ll track you down and get you to teach me! Love seeing your work keep it up!

wow, smooth blending! the shield looks really great. And I like the magenta to red/orange on the armour. Crazy colours! I do agree with avelorn and ritual about the dark purple to red tabard though...I think ritual makes a good point when he says the colours are too similar in brightness - I think maybe the purple needs to be a little bit darker to be more effective shading maybe? Perhaps there is too great a shift in colour there too, on too small an area...something is wrong. But you said you were going for a strange tafeta efect, so I suppose that explains things. I like the face though, I don\'t think it needs more shading, it looks good.

Yes, I see now the point about the brightness of the cloth. You see, the thing is, I wanted to omit very bright highlights on it so that it looked like a different material and texture compared to the armour. Therefore, using different amoung of highlighting was intentional.

That\'s exactly how it\'s getting me too! It\'s extremely well painted and quite original but one minute I\'m thinking that\'s so cool and then the next I\'m thinking Margo must be colourblind

\"Drybrushing madness\" -- I really like that term lol., Well, I always drybrush rocks on bases, so that the texture looks different and rough compared to the \"polished\" look of the mini. Same here: the base is stone barelief.
As for me being color blind comment, well, I do realize that this mini is somewhat controversial regarding its colors, but if you check the color wheel you\'ll see that \'officially\' everything\'s correct according to the analogyc color scheme. And, as it was mentioned before, I also believe that this is a \"love or hate\" kind of issue.
P.S. don\'t you just love me for being so, ahem, politically correct? lol
