Slaanesh Colors

Hello,

I was just wondering if I could get some opinions on this Slaanesh Champ I was working on last night. Almost finished it, but there\'s a few things I\'m not sure about on it.

Slaanesh.jpg

Firstly, there\'s the leggings. I simply don\'t know what to do with them. I\'ve seen some done in black, some done in lighter pink, and some ones purple. Honestly I don\'t know which one will work here. I was leaning towards a dark purple at first, but I don\'t think it\'ll have enough contrast to it.

Second, the sword. I was toying with the idea of a blue-green sword to match the rest of the guy\'s color scheme, but that\'d be very similar to Jenova\'s and I don\'t want to make it seem like I\'m ripping it off.

And finally there\'s the armor itself. Should I go for one more hilight (probably a Warlock/Tentacle Pink mixture) or leave it be?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I like the colors you have so far.

Black leather leggings seem appropriate, maybe with scrolling in aqua or purple. (FYI: Scrolling, or Tribal is the jagged yet flowing solid color designs most common in tattoos and auto decals)

As for the sword, who cares if it looks like something someone else did? You have two spots of green on the gems, so why not balance it with a sword? Just make it different from Jenova\'s if you are hesitant.

The armor is a great color, but needs something. Maybe some detailing on the open areas, like runes or more scrolling (if you go for that).

Also, I don\'t think a brown belt is appropriate. He\'s a warrior of Slaanesh, so something a bit \"brighter\" would seem more fitting. Just like the loincloth. Good color, but sort of plain. When I think Slaanesh, I think flamboyant.

Just my three cents.

Thanks for the ideas! I think I just might try some more subtle scrollwork on the armor, one of the darker purples I used on the hilighting.

And you\'re right, I\'ll probably have to do something with that belt. I was thinking it might work as the only \"mundane\" color on the model but it does look out of place.

Should have this bad boy finished by Sunday if nothing comes up :D

Heeeeyyyy! You mentioned my name :D

I think he looks great. The head is very cool. Where is it from?

The paintjob works very well. The gems are amazing! I don\'t think the armour needs more highligths but maybe you should give the gloves another colour. The silver on the belt is a little to bright and shiny for my taste and the blacklining on the left leg (between the leg and the leggins) looks a little too heavy.

You could always paint the sword the same pinkish purple colour as the armour(I painted another one of these with a purple sword and I actually like that better).

Overall an absolutely beautiful paintjob. I can\'t wait to see it finished :)

Thanks :D I just had to mention yours because I liked it so much, and because it was so similar to the colors I wanted to use on mine :)

The head is actually a bit of a conversion. It\'s the head of the Undivided Champion (it\'s got the 2 horns with the skull in between) with the horns chopped off and filed flat. The ponytail is literally a ponytail. It\'s the tail from the new Mounted Chaos Sorceror. You can\'t see it in the pic just yet, but the hair is sprouting from the mouth of some daemonic looking face. Looked a lot like the face on the knee so I just had to use it

The blacklining on the skin of the leg is going to be redone as well because my brush slipped when I was tidying up the black areas after painting the rest :p

Overall this pic isn\'t quite what the model looks like in person. There is so much blacklining on this guy that my camera goes all weird when I photograph him over a white background. I\'ll try to get a better one later on today.

Hi, quick update on the situation here.

Took some pics of the model, in its 90% finished state, and here they are. The bottles and other small details are done at this point. The only things left to do are the sword, the cloth on the shield, and a little static grass on the base.

The black leather I think looks pretty good. It\'s a strange mix of Black, Midnight Blue, and increasing amounts of Shadow Grey. When it\'s glossed up later it should look pretty cool.

The cloth on the shield should end up looking like the tabard did. Might try to style it like Jenova\'s, as that\'s one of my favorite parts hers.

I think I figured out how to do the sword this time, it\'ll probably end up being a dark blue fading in a sharp gradient to a white color along the edge. You think this\'ll look good composition wise?

Looks nice... I\'m looking forward to seeing it finished. The only thing that stands out as needing work, in my opinion, is the head. Since you removed the horns and spikes, etc., it looses a bit of its presence. To compensate, you might try pushing the highlights on the helmet (especially the purple around the vision slit). This will help make it a focal point.

Thanks for the input. I completely agree with ya. It\'ll definitely be getting another hilight as soon as my finger stops oozing blood all over the place. I tell ya, getting those new ultra sharp razor blades isn\'t necessarily a good thing ;)

lol
I know the feeling, I had one go sideways through the tip of my left index finger last summer while performing some modification to a resin piece (read as :me trying to save a crappily assembled and old Armorcast Baneblade model). I couldn\'t paint for about a month (damn splint) and still don\'t have feeling in the tip of my finger from nerve damage. Hopefully yours will heal quicker and better than mine did.

Eep, so do I :D Mine was slightly more emberassing though. I usually use an Xacto knife to open the cardboard on the back of blisters, I like saving the clear plastic to use as panes of glass for future Cityfight projects. Anyhoo, the blade I used before needed a lot of pressure to cut through, and this new one sliced through the card and my finger in about a fifth of a second lol

I saw these little curly looking white bits under the blood in the cut, which might not be terribly good. Can\'t be buggered to have it looked at though, it stopped bleeding and hurting so I figure it\'ll heal itself soon enough anyway :)

Kick-ass conversion and paint job, Jericho! Very nice work. I love the helmet and plume in particular.

This figure in general has all sorts of conversion combo possibilities, dont it :)

Yeah, it\'s one of my favorite designs in a long time. Looks great unconverted, but the one on the Steed has a lot of interchangable parts for this guy, so we\'re seeing all kinds of wicked conversions :)

I think it\'s kinda funny that Slaaneshi models are getting the best paint jobs on CMON lately; the Lord of Pleasure would be quite pleased ;)

I like the colours! I use them myself. :) I would like to se the sword in a pale blue, kind of glowing with a faint light, not highlighted to bright. That makes it more slaanesh i think! Have fun with it, I am myself finishing a nice conversion of the grand old Keeper.

Ick...
You might have some nerve damage, but who knows. If the cut wasn\'t too deep, you might try super glue to hold it together (if the thing keeps opening on you). That\'s what they told me in the emergency room for mine anyway, after I had the stitches removed.
Anyways though, the model looks nice, but I\'d stay away from a brightly colored sword. If it were raised over his head, then I\'d be all for it... but since its in a \'rest position\' it will only be distracting to the focal point: the model\'s head.

Finger\'s doing fine the day after, in case you were wondering :D Feeling all around, no bleeding, no pain, etc. I think I either got lucky or my years worth of modeller\'s callice saved me yet again lol

Anyhoo, the WIP shots were put on my account. Vote, comment, whatever your heart desires.

Looks like Hawk tourquise.
Base of HT mixed with chaos black, then highlighted up to HT.
Or even replase HT with Jade green...

IM pretty sure its Hawk tourquise

Close, but I actually made a concious effort to avoid Hawk Turquoise on that guy. It didn\'t quite fit the color I was going for.

The tabard started as a Scaly Green/Regal Blue mix, then Scaly, then blended to Jade Green, then a final hilight of Vile Green on the very tips of the tabard.

As I said earlier, I really like that color and plan on using it more often in the future.
