Which one was yours?

I\'m a bit puzzled by the choice of Natayla\'s being voted best. No offense to her, but that is far from her best work.

Umm... Am I missing something? The results of voting appeared somewhere?

Do you have a link?

I didn\'t even know there was official voting....

I was just going by what you said Ainu...

The overall consensus was for Todd\'s, and then Natayla, and I think you were third CMoNwise.

That and the other link about it here on CMoN.

I was surprised that anyone had chosen Natayla\'s as best...not over the other three.

I don\'t think that that would be such a big surprize, I love her fellowship. there is not one thig she could have done better on that entry. of the four slayersword winners, I definetly think that she is the best one. is there somewhere you can vote? if there is plz link :)

Thats the link to the other thread I was referring to. I agree her Fellowship is fantastic, as is most of her stuff. I just wasn\'t blown away by her entry of the Warboss.

Have to admit, I was also a little surprised with her entry for this Vike. Not that I could do better of course, but it seems of a lesser standard than her usual prowess.

That was my point exactly. And I don\'t mean it to be rude or anything...or for a call to arms for all the fanboys.

i gotta agree with you guys i actually felt natalya\'s was too monotone for me. her ogther stuff being amazing i felt this didnt quite meet alexi`z standards. but who am i kidding i suck compared to all of them. :(

I actually think they\'re all a really good job considering the situation. Honestly, if someone gave me that kit, restricted my conversion, and only offered 1 month to get it done, I wouldn\'t likely have much to show for it. But all 4 of them found the time to get them done and they\'re all really quite good.

All 4 of them are obviously talented painters, but I somehow feel the results of this \"contest\" are more about how much free time the person may have had that month, more than anything else.

Agreed, I can hardly find time in a month to do mediocre miniatures, yet these guys can do masterpieces. Personally I think the best conversion came form Jeff wilson, but the best painted was Todd Swanson. In any case this is an interesting move by GW, are they running low on stuff to publish?

It would be cool to set a poll up of all the slayer sword winners across the world for 2006, let people vote and see who would be the ultimate slayer sword champion of the year type thing!

Banshee would have to win with 2 European swords in a year.

not necessarily as the vote would be on the best (edit- favourite) winning model and not who got the most trophies...

Yes there is official voting for the Slayer Sword Challenge. All you have to do is send an email to slayerswordchallenge@games-workshop.com with the name of the person you are voting for in the subject line. Thanks

So as Ainu said, Banshee would have to win, he rocks! lol

Actually, I\'d be interested to see how he would do with a more standard model, because for me the appeal of Banshee\'s stuff is much more down to the character he gets in his sculpts, and the subject matter he chooses. He\'s obviously a very good painter, but technically he doesn\'t quite cut it with some of the others I\'ve seen up close. It would certainly be an interesting comp to see.

As for the US efforts, they all leave me cold I\'m sorry to say:

Todd\'s one is very well painted, but far too pretty and elaborate to fit the Orc mentality. If I had to pick one I\'d still go for this one though.

Natalya\'s is more Orcy, but the standard of painting is so far removed from her other stuff it just doesn\'t wow me.

Jeff\'s one is a cool idea, but once again the painting looks extremely untidy compared to what I\'d expect.

Tim\'s, well it still baffles me that his style appeals to anyone at all, so obviously this does nothing for me!

Perhaps the problem is more with the format of the competition than the actual abilities of the US Slayer Sword winners, but I\'m seriously unimpressed with what should have been the best thing on the GW website in ages.
