SM armour question

Would a marine take off his gloves to eat or do similar tasks?

OK, i\'ll spill my guts. i want to make a diarama for the new painting comp. Want an apothecary nealing over a fallen marine and lighting a candle for him and his brothers. So, should the gloves be off, or on?

Not that i\'ll finish and get it submited before i ship, but i still want to make/paint it.:D

Thanks,
nick-

I don\'t reckon that they will, i have no background to support it, but i just have the belief that they would\'t. I have never seen i diarama, painting, drawing etc. with them having their gloves off.

Just my two cents:p

I like the idea. Keep the gloves on but take the helmet off. I\'ve seen this quite a bit (i.e. the Tau Codex, and Imperial Fists Captain has his helmet off while talking to a Tau).

the way i see it, is that they don\'t go around in power armour all the time. i say keep them on though (and using a flamer pilot to light it!!).

Space Marines TALK to other species?

I\'d say gloves on. Especially if it\'s supposed to be happening on the battlefield.

thirded.

Keep em on. Fluffwise, all those USB ports on a marines body should connect to the armour, so the gloves should be every bit as dextrous, if not as tactile as bare hands.

The only permanent thing about their armor is the black carapace... it\'s like a layer of armor they wear under their skin that allows them to plug into the power armor properly.

The rest can come off, and has happened in various books, stories and artwork. How else would they get into and out of Terminator armor, or seek medical attention, or repair the armor itself?

There\'s a 2nd edition Dark Angel battle scene that comes to mind, the hero in the foreground has one bare hand firing his bolter.

You could do gloves off, like if he were closing the dead man\'s eyes or something, but then you\'d have to have the glove nearby because if he came in armor then he came with gloves, especially if it were a nonbreathable atmosphere.
The empty glove would be quite a sculpting challenge in my mind. One bare hand with the other, gloved hand holding the empty glove.

Bringing us back to the \"are Space Marines eunichs\" question lol Perhaps this is the real reason the powerfist was first invented ;)

Going along with the story that\'s with the picture, he\'s not so much talking as trying to convice the imperial ambassador to let him kill the Tau...with a Tau standing in front of them...

I always liked the dramatic touch that\'s added in a movie where the doctor takes off his gloves, makes it look more human.

The empty glove shouldn\'t be too hard to do, the older CSM metal figures with bolters came with a left arm that was holding up the bolter. The hand on that arm looks pretty straight foreword and limp in itself. Also remember that these gloves aren\'t made of leather, so they don\'t axatly lose mass when taken off.

Actually, i\'ve gone back to the other side and there\'s no going back. i\'m going with the right glove off (the special one with all the tooling on it) and that\'ll be lighting the candle, and his left hand will have the glove still on and will be resting on the fallen marine\'s head.

You asked for it... hehehe

Currently in 23 different pieces and still more need to be sculpted. The only head i have pre-sculpted is Mike\'s so DR is going to be the medic for this one lol. A lot of hands being put on different arms and some new legs getting sculpted for the Apothocary. He\'ll be on a knee over the fallen marine... left hand on the marine\'s head, right hand still holding the lighter and candle either on the dead marine\'s chest, or on the ground in front of the marine.

Still need to deside and build the terrain they\'re on. Then the marine will get put together and then the Apathocary will get his new legs:D
