Small birds - And I don\'t mean short women!

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I recently dragged my old and decrepid frame back to a painting table after several years of abstinance.

I won\'t go into a long explanation of the project at hand as I intend to throw something in WIP and I wouldn\'t want you poor people reading me repeating myself, but it\'s safe to say I\'m doing a VC conversion heavy army.

Now, what I really want are ravens, or any small birds that can be painted as ravens, preferably in different poses to flock around the shambling horde.

With GW changing mail order so you can\'t grab individual bits I\'m wondering if anyone could point an old man in the direction of any manufacturer of birds which would scale correctly to Warhammer. I\'d really rather not end up building them all from greenstuff!

A pint of beer in the mail to anyone that can help!!

Thanks for the advice, they do indeed have a raven, and a vulture, and something that looks like a partridge...ok, so I\'ll skip the partridge.

I\'m in the UK and would rather avoid having to have things shipped from the states for such a small order, so I\'ll hold out and see if I can get anything here before resorting, but at least I know the option is there.

Of course, they may have a secret lair in the UK I know nothing about, if this is the case please include the words *ha ha you fool* in your post just to rub it in!

This won\'t help much but : welcome to the forum!

Your posting style makes for some good reading and I look forward to your futur WIP ;).

In this instance VC does indeed mean Vampire Counts. However, it\'s a good point and I shall have to be wary of acronyms in a diverse community of different games systems. I\'d hate to think anyone invested any time in exploring the concept of my all new and shiny converted \'Vegetable Casserole\' army!

Thanks for the welcome chaps :)

if you make two body sculpts (one with no wings/ a notch, and the other with folded wings), and a separate wing sculpt, you could make a simple press mold, and make many fast, cheep, and easy. at that size, you wouldn\'t even need much detail, and you could easily convert many different poses by altering the wing position. it would be waaaaaay cheeper than virtually any other option, and more versatile.

Moulding is something I\'ve never done, and hadn\'t considered. I shall have a read up on it. Thanks for the advice :)

@Amazon - Many thanks indeed, Even if I go with the moulding idea, having a scale model in front of me to ensure accuracy will be a real help, so I shall bounce off and place an order.

It might be worth asking Minifigs for just the ones you want. Reaper certainly sell them separately - I bought one of their falcon familiars that way.

there was a good article on press molds that id used to great effect in the articles section, but unfortunately all the photo links appear to be broken. i bet if you pm\'d mattsterbenz (the author) he could help you out with the pics.

More info than you could possibly need about moulds at Hirst arts.
