hello there, i recently and happily found a local stockist of vallejo! i picked up : flat red, khaki grey, and smoke.
the first paints are nice, but the smoke wash is rather strange. am i doing something wrong, i watered it down, but there seems to be loads of pigments floating? what is \"smoke\" most used for?, i know it is a wash but... bah?
thanks- tim

Vallejo Smoke should be somewhat like an ink in consistency. It is best used, IMO, for washing metallics with, to dirty them up a bit. Sounds like you get heavy separation of the pigments. Does this happen when you water it down or is it separated already when you pour the stuff out of the bottle? Try shaking the hell out of it and vary the amount of water you put into it.

to ritual: it only goes pigmenty when i watered it down, otherwise it is fine.

Try less water then, and stir vigorously. If you have some flow aid additive you might try some of that as well.

It can be a swine for pigment clumping.
Try easing the top out of the dropper bottle and drop in a small piece of metal as an agitator.
Helps, but doesn\'t always stop it.
