\"Sniping\" scores - automatic cutouts?

Hi,, yeah, I know, I bet this has been gone over a million times but I couldn\'t find a relevant thread on it using search.

Does the site system automatically delete \"extreme\" scores on votes?

i.e. If an image has scored 9 consistently and somebody comes along and scores it 1 is that vote accepted or ignored (and the same for a mini of score 1 given a 10?)

and does the number of total votes affect the scores ... it just seems that since i\'ve obtained over 100 votes on some images the scores seemed to have \"settled down\" wherreas under that number somebody was clearly \"sniping\" all my pictures with scores of 1.

Of course they could just have stopped sniping but somebody mentioned something to me about extreme votes being deleted by the system once your mini had reached a certain number of votes...

Dont think the exact proceedure has been or will be made public. Because then people could use the system to \"snipe\" as they saw fit. The only thing that\'s been confirmed is that there is a system that does take into account the current score versus the vote. No idea if the vote is trashed right there or if it\'s stored until the current score reaches a point where it can be used then gets calculated in.

To be honest I cant even remember Chern saying that much. It might not even check the score of the mini, it might just be something simpler like \"last 5 or more votes = same number? yes, ok your votes dont count now until you take this a little more seriously\"

Some people might have some better opinions though, from watching their scores and stuff.

from what I gather, from people in-the-know dropping hints, there is also a time-frame thing involved. This was discussed heavily in the New#1 thread when Natalya was (indirectly) accused of cheating. It takes into account that someone could create a \'bot\' program thet creates hundres of fake accounts/IP addresses and votes a ton of the same vote on a mini, in this case 10\'s. At least this is the impression I got when certain people ascertained that it would be \'impossible\' for someone to swamp a mini with fake votes in a short amount of time. Lots of the same vote (1\'s OR 10\'s) send up a red flag, but so does a lot of activity on one mini.

Like I said, this is just what I have \'discerned\' from the hints given.
