A new one from me! Snirk one of the Runic miniatures i got excited about! Great fun to paint.

This was/is the very first time i have tried NMM and it came out VERY blue, not fully intentional but i think it adds to the brightness of the coat.

Please vote and comment if you have the time.

Love the sword. It seems like you put all your effort into it as the coat and the skin look a little flat. Still the sword is awesome. Did the vote thing.

EXCELLENT sword there Matty

I have a few constructive criticisms too - I\'d normally post these in a comment, but I can\'t post comments at the moment. The hair is a little flat, and a wash of a slightly darker colour would really bring out the texture of it. The face would be greatly improved if you painted his eye more clearly - maybe a wash of black around the white would help it pop. And the gun looks rather rushed - the NMM could do with a little contrast down the sides, and the wood looks as if it needs a highlight.

Other than that, this is a really nice piece - I like the coat, and the freehand is solidly executed. The highlighting on his trousers is great too :)

Good stuff Matty, my favourite from you yet

Cheers everyone, i admit i probably spent more time on the sword than the rest lol! I just copyied an NMM pattern off this mini: http://www.coolminiornot.com/134110

But i didnt have a suitable blue, so i mixed my own :D

Pretty pleased for the first attempt, its probably about 20 layers or so lol

But as you can see from the gun barrel, where i didnt have referance photos it wasn\'t so good!

Loveley stuff Matty, Theres a topic on here with shawns snotlings ( called snots...just snots)- You may want to add to your favourites for reference for NMM guns as this is the only bit that lets this down IMHO.

Know you love this model, and be proud of yourself- you have really done it justice!

Your best figure yet Matty. The little man is very bright and well defined.
The sword looks great, just smooth the blending on the rest of the mini, cut out the gloss effect and he would be excellent.

Nice one.

Cheers everyone! I never thought this would get such a great reaction! Im definately going to do some changes, il matte the coat, wash the hair for defination, add a highlight to the skin and redo the gun barrel.

Right iv done some changes, washed the hair with Head and Shoulders (it was on a two for one offer) Added TWO more highlights to the skin, now going into the yellows (This really helps the eyes stand out alot more, i think Bill had hinted on the eyes being more defined). Repainted the gun barrel, this time vertical shading instead of horizontal shading (copied this tecnique from Shawn R.L\'s little fellas). And highlighted the brown on the gun up a little.

Yep i mixed satin varnish in to the reds to get a silky style texture.
I guess this isnt the best for photo\'s so iv matted the coat, but it still catches a bit of shine, could be the lamp.

Should i upload the new one for voting? I feel i might get a lower score because people have already voted on the same thing (in a sense)

Matty a little bit about \"Matt\" coats or sealers.. matt does not mean flat.. It jjust means its not glossy. What you really want is a good flat coat to avoid a shiny appearance.

If your using GWs hard coat matt sealer..well thats stuffs pretty shiny. I really like Vallejos brush on matt coat as its a pretty flat coat sealer. The best is if you can locate testors dull coat but if you cant find that there are alternatives. What you need to do is find a good model shop thats for trains and military model kits and ask the sales clirk what they reccomend for a good flat coat.

Its Vallejos brush on im using, it looks matted/flat IRL, must be the light on the lamp to close. Id love to get some Dullcote, but i havnt got the money, so this will have to do for now.

Great to see the mini with someone else\'s paint on it. :)
And nice job - especially on the improved photos where I can see that you have picked up advice from this thread.

Have you tried using bleached bone to add to green for higlights on goblin skin instead of white/yellow? I used Bleched bone on my old gobbo army and I thin it gives the gobbos a more natural-looking (?) skin-tone.

Got my minis from Denmark this morning so it\'s good to see the standard being set so high. Must say I prefer the new look gun barrel a lot more. Also, nice base, coat shirt etc. The new yellow highlights are a little too yellow for my tastes though. I was experimenting last night with colours for goblin skin as I have two of Jakob\'s as well as Skarsnik to paint. I founf that Desert Yellow over Dark Angels Green (I\'m sure you have equivalents in you rnew paint case;) )made an interesting start. I think paler shades are the way to go.
