Snow and paint - what works well?

Hi, this is my first post in this forum, although I have been checking CMON out for years already.

I\'m going to do a cool project soon, and I\'m already researching some stuff. I want to know: I wanna do a snow covered base, but also add shadow from the model to it. What can I best use for snow, that is also easily paintable for this purpose, but still looks AMAZING!

If you make a paste using any of the commonly-mentioned powders used to simulate snow it should be possible to paint it. I\'d think best results are likely to be obtained by airbrushing the shadow on but brush painting should work if you\'re careful.

There\'s a whole thread about what materials make good snow here.

The recipe I\'ve seen, and am getting ready to use on a mini, is:

1 part water
1 part PVA glue
2 parts baking soda (bicarb)

I wonder if washes would allow you to get the paint effects you want... I\'d put some snow on some cardboard and test paint it before putting it on your mini.

Thanks for the link, really helpfull.

And hey: I ALWAYS test out new stuff on random models, cardboard, empty bases, my girlfriend, the dining table, the neighbour\'s front door or whatever else is within reach :D
