@spazzy: try using ink rather than paint to tint the water effects
having said that vallejo have just released a range of tinted water effects pots, ask who ever you normally get your paints from

Very clear generul, thanks. Sometimes you just have to put the cookies on the bottom shelf for me. lol Not exactly what I was looking for in an elevated base, but definately a few steps closer that I got myself. :D

mickc, thanks for that. I\'ll look into it.

For those whose bicard snow hasn\'t yellowed, over what period is that? Mine was fine for about 2 years, and is turning yellow only now.

I had the bright idea that if I added a touch of paint to the stuff you use for water (can\'t think of what it\'s called) it would end out colored but still clear, if maybe a touch cloudy. .... Just ended up with a light blue blob. Lesson learned. Paint makes water stuff opaque.

Sorry that trick didn\'t work, but thanks for sharing -- I\'d had the same idea myself, but now I\'ll know better and can save myself some time. Maybe I\'ll still give inks instead of paint a shot before buying the Vallejo products, though.

Iv been looking at Shawn R.L.\'s snow dwarf, what consistency or ratio did you use for glue:bicarb?

Or what ratio should i use. Iv just tryed using a snow mix, but it has came out very \'dusty\' and crumbly, what am i doing wrong?

Four years + for the paste, 15 years or so for an old figure where the snow was done by the sprinkle method.

You\'re using pure baking soda right? What adhesive did you use?

Pure bicarbonate of soda. Should I be using baking powder instead, that stuff with the tartaric acid in it? (I\'ve just checked the stuff in the box, and it\'s still white where on the minis it has yellowed. *sigh and grrrrrrr* I used PVA (Alcolin brand). Made a paste out of that and applied it. Then while the PVA was still wet, I dipped the mini bases into the bicard again. Perhaps that was the wrong thing to do?

Nice to see you around again, Einion. Your presence was missed.
