Snowy ice base

hello all, just another noobie question. I've been working on some icy blue bloodletters of khorne and am wondering how i would go about cheaply making jagged ice looking bases?

Probably cut up some sprues and shape them to look like spurs, then paint them in icy shades. For the floor, good old plasticard or cork ought to do it (although you're more than likely going to have to spend a lot of time shaping the cork into suitably sharp edges). A bit of greenstuff over the top of this, and some knife work, and you'll have some texture; then all that's needed is come icy colours.

Could you post a link or two showing the type of ice in miniature you're looking to do? If you want some transparency or transluscency to the ice then you'd have to go a different route.
