So, I went into the GW shop....

\"But Ripley, she\'s just a piece of plastic\". Plastic minis just don\'t FEEL like they\'re worth $10 each... Also, production: the molds may be pricier but you can speedily crank out plastic minis forever with one steel mold. So it feels like you are getting charged $10 for something of very little value.
And that\'s the singular issue I have with buying plastics - they just don\'t feel like they\'re worth it. Give me pewter any day. The \'conversions are easier\' argument doesn\'t hold with me either. You can\'t bend plastic, you can only cut it. Also can\'t sharpen weapons. Conversions might be easier, but they\'re better with metals. And removing the mould lines is an absolute bitch. That should be reserved for the plastic v. metal argument though.

I don\'t dive anymore. It\'s far too damn expensive to pay for a weekend away. A hotel or camp for 2 evenings and the cost of the travelling just does not get justified by 5 dives. More dives than that, and you\'re looking at an expensive little holiday. Diving is way more expensive, but there is something special about a 1 metre stingray swimming 6\" in front of your nose.

I don\'t do paragliding anymore either. Not because of the cost, but the cost to start is probably 20 times as much as a start in wargaming. Oh yeah, and there\'s also travelling and accomodation required to get to different flying sites. Paragliding is way more expensive, but there\'s something special about hanging in the wind with legoland down below.

I also don\'t keep marine fish and invertebrates anymore. Setup cost is prohibitive, and so is maintenance. And electricity too - 600W of lighting is expensive to run. Live animals also demand attention. If they don\'t get it, they die. Marine fishkeeping is way more expensive, but there is something special about an anemone so healthy it spawns in front of your eyes.

Face it, guys, minis are a relatively cheap hobby. :)

@NSA : You mentioned that place a while back, but I lost the directions you sent me for it. If you could give me the address / directions again, and an idea of what their Rackham\'s go for, I\'d be obliged.

I don\'t buy Rackham, as yet. Haven\'t been able to afford any. :(

Trevor: $8-10 for Reaper? Sheesh. Give me a list of Reaper minis you\'re hunting for and I\'ll grab \'em for you. I can see that rate for some of the bigger ones, but for the standards, it\'s like $4-7 here, generally. And cheaper if you got connections.

Easy directions: take the TTC to Dundas West station, then walk south on Dundas for about 1 block to where it splits off as Roncesvalles, and DG is on the east side of the street!

Google Maps link

Their Rackham minis are about the same cost as anywhere else.
