So it starts! My summer painting marathon.

It has started. Since I\'ve given up WoW I\'ve gone back to painting. I\'m becoming better and better at each day so I\'ve decided to go and tackle two projects at once.

First up on the block is this guy:
Champion1.jpg

He\'s a possessed champion. He\'ll be on a base with a disemboweled corpse below him.His eyes will be glowing as well.

Then we have the stupid mini I\'ve redone about three times now. I know what I\'m doing this time (so I think) and I\'ll give him a whirl.

His armor will be the tricky part, but I\'m learning to keep my paint layers thinner this time around.

I\'ll be updating this beast almost daily. This could be an uphill fight. Oh, I DID find a mini that looks a lot like my old WoW toon. I\'ll be painting him once I get him.

I intend on entering a competition at some point next year and I need all the practice I can get. I\'m going to paint, paint, paint, and yes, paint.

Yeah Matt that game can be like crack and just as hard to get off.I just wiped if from my pc and give my copy away, that way I could not fire it up and get hooked again.

Both of those mini\'s look awesome, I\'m anxious to see how they will look when you are done. Who is the manufacturer on those?

They\'re both Games Workshop minis. Thanks, I hope I don\'t mess up!

Matt, drop the game like it\'s a bad habit! I sold my account for a sweet $200. I\'ve been able to buy my new Raphael brushes with the money and my new Chaos Demon army that came in today.

Good on ya for putting the pipe down.

I am currently trying to unhook a friend from it (he needs to start painting his chaos fantasy army)

As we both decided to make new armies at the same time to keep motivated etc.

Anyway good luck on the painting, i like the small mods on the khorne champion.

An those deamons are quite nice. Seems the summer paint marathon starts now haha

Well I made some progress today on my chapter master. I finished getting a nice, complete solid coat of red for the cloak. I then worked on gradually adding shading to the darker points of the cloak. I think it looks pretty good personally. Next comes the highlights of the cloak, from there on, I have no idea where I should start. I’m still debating on a color for his armor.
Just the basecoat before shading:

After some layers of shading:

I primed my chaos champion; I think I’ll get started on his basecoats sometime tomorrow. I’m still thinking of how I should paint his armor because that’s such a major feature on him. I’m going for all non-metallic for my projects, so this should be fun.

I got my new chaos demon army in the mail. I opened the box and was surprised how much metal came in it! I inspected some of the casts and they look pretty nice. I’m debating about getting the circular movement trays or just ordering a heap of square bases. I’ll decide later.

I worked on the finishing points of the cloak for now and added the highlights. I’ll give it a once-over towards the very end of the process. I think it turned out very well and I took my time adding the very thin layers to the cloak to achieve gradual progressions.
ChapterMaster4.jpg

I then started on the armor. I’m going for a dark green basecoat. I’m noticing it’ll take a while to get a full and complete coat on the mini, but I’m in no rush. I’m using such thin layers that I’ll need to build up, but it’ll be a solid color in the end.

The only downside in using white as a primer is that it takes a few layers to build a solid color, but the end results should be much nicer and clearer than using a black primer. Comments and constructive criticism are encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I was thinking about adding a little more highlighted color to the cloak when he\'s almost done. I\'ll mix a little more orange/yellow into the mix to make it really stand out.

Still not sure about the chaos warrior. Originally, he was a Khorne Chaos Champion, but I was thinking of maybe trying a black/ grey armor set with red trim. I could use the blue to do some accents with it.

The new boxed set I got was the Warhammer Fantasy Battles Chaos Demon set.

I almost completed the green coat on it tonight, I\'ll finish it up tomorrow. I\'m getting tired and a bit rushed, I\'ll stop for now.
