Ive joined a sword fighting re enactment club, and am going to start making armour.

So before I have to go and make a pattern for 13th to 15th century helmets, does anyone else have one?

I realise I may well be clutching at straws here, but its worth a shot.

Hell, any patterns for anything of that period.

Cheers.

Oh, french/english only sorry.

Nah that was a cannon that took his arm off. Apparently he has the whole thing on video so he can watch it with his mates when they\'re drunk lol

All those years making models of things that go bang, and when he met a real thing that goes bang, he stood at the wrong end......

Me thinks he should stop casting resin. :D

It could have been in the paper I suppose. He was telling me about it when I was chatting to him about WH Ancients at Games Day. He was loading it or something and it went off a bit whilst his hand was in the way. He has this cool claw attachment that he uses to hold the minis as he sculpts. They\'re both nice guys and he says at least people can tell them apart now.

Don\'t know if you\'re still looking for patterns. But actually it would be a good idea to simply visit a museum which has helmets of that century and study them. You can at the same time look on how they actually handmade them.
And have a good look where they softened to fit to their head. This can make your future helm more comfortable.

If you don\'t have any museum try a library for books on patterns or armour books.

If you don\'t have a library...you\'re doomed! lol

Nah, guess there are some nice homepages and since it\'s real quiet day here at work I\'ll look for some now...I post link if I found some. Its 13-15th century right?

Oh, thanks for that link too, that looks bloody brilliant, we get grants for things, the only issue was finding things for under 300 euros a piece.

Some of the things on that site are crazily cheap.

I have a pair of 15th Century visored Sallets, both of slightly different design. I can take some pics/measurments/whatever of them tomorrow of you like.

I guess a cannon can go off a lil bit as the gunpowder is rammed down (As it needs to be compacted to be effective) so maybe only SOME of it actually reached an explosive ratio??

I\'ll bet it was damn painful though :(
