i think i may of been a bit more dismissive of brand than i meant to be, the point i was really trying to make was that satisfactory results can be gained with almost any of the paints, and when starting out the importance of brand i think is less, unless your your a real natural its going to take a while just to get the hang of the very basics, (something a certain someone didnt manage after decades) i think the advantages of certain brands comes into its own once you start to get the hang blending and proper uses of washes and glazes, when i started i dont think my results would have been better with vallejo than they were with gw

in the days of space marine i used humbrol enamels. and to be perfectly honest some of the colors were perfect. they didn\'t take longer than 1/2 hour to dry, they covered solidly and left a lovely matte finish.
of course some didn\'t cover well, were blotchy and did take forever to dry.

if i were a braver man i would use the better colors with the GW/vallejo combo. but oils and enamels don\'t always live happily together.

the only reason i use acrylics (water based, ( :( tamiya :( ) is for the ease of cleaning. and less smellyness. longer brush life, easier on the carpet, not as toxic.

lucky i\'m not a humbrol rep.
