If you\'re not familiar with the area you may not see why this is scary. I lived in the SF Bay area for a few years. One day the lightening was striking just as the wife and I got home. We had dinner and went to bed and thought nothing of it. We didn\'t realize that lightening is like a once a decade event in San Francisco. The next day all the papers, TV and radio were filled with the storm and we were like: \"it\'s just lightning, what\'s the big deal?\" A lot of our friends (and our cats) were terrified though. California doesn\'t have weather, it has climate.Originally posted by DennisMech
I lost power last night, right in the middle of posting on CMON. But the big irony (jinx) was that I was talking with a friend online, and said \"I hop we don\'t lose power\" and the second I said that, we did. I was shaking all night (power outage+storm+28 days later=scary!).

I always thought I knew what thunderstorms were. Then I moved to Texas and, Holy Sh#t!What I\'d always thought were thunderstorms turned out to be just miniature models of what real ones are like.
I\'ve heard that Alaska has some pretty cool lightning effects too.Originally posted by dauber22
