Ok so here's a somewhat of a sbs bustimizing a resin plinth from model display products I think it's around 45 mm width I'm pretty sure but do not quote me their but this same process can be found on Dakka Dakka ,massive voodoo and a ton of other forums. Those just starting out getting into display models this is kinda a beginner to intermediate stages display creations. So here's the photos and then ill explain:step 1,2,3 etc.:

ok so take the plinth and draw a stories line on a theirs of the base dotted like a surgeon will do for marking his incision. Next using a drill or a pin vice (the latter takes forever) using a big drill but and drill holes on and along the dotted line bothe vertically and horizontally . Make sure the holes are close together. As close as you can get them. The reason for two directions (vertically, horizontally) is in the later stages the holes meet and intersect allowing that 1/3 rd of the resin base to be to be popped off. Once that's done take a large piece of a epoxy putty sausage and flatten it out into a sheet like pizza makers roll out a sausage out of a blob of dough. Apply this sheet of putty all along the side that's been drilled and popped off. This is how you can start pushing little bits of slate or stones into the cliff side. Once this is done spray prime it varnish it. Paint it up and add details all over the goddammned thing. Viola instant cliff side or if youde like a lake or swamp anything your heart desires. Enjoy any questions ill be glad to clarify. Stay tuned.
