Some tasty weathering - Automaton\'s sentinel

Any ideas on how he did the weathering on the windows?
I presume that they were made using something like the plastic from a blister pack, but I\'m lost otherwise

Ah, I can\'t find the article but there was a lengthy disussion about this not that long ago. If you go digging all secrets will be revealed, and your wildest dreams will come true.....

He answered all the questions but essentially he made great use of a brush on paint mask for the bulk of the weathered effect.

If you\'re interested in the windows specifically, they are made of clear plastic cut from a blister pack, yes. I painted them with a few layers of gloss varnish first. Then the dirt effect was made using weathering poweders - in this case, I used the powder from ground-up soft pastels, but any pigment powder will do. I jsut applied it dry, with a brush, in a few colours - then a careful touch with a brush loaded with white spirit to fix the powder to the surface. Then another round with the dry powder.

As a little extra bit, I flicked on some spots of tamiya smoke, to create some little dots like rain or liquid spots that had hit the surface. It\'s not easy to see in the photos, but you can see it f you look carefully here: http://www.guildofharmony.com/GWsentinel.php?picname=GWsentinel1#picstart
