the counter.

drive and put our junk and cheap lawn mowers in the garage.

Only in Britain... do we buy hot dogs in packs of ten and buns in packs
of eight.

Only in Britain... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then
have call waiting so we won\'t miss a call from someone we didn\'t want to
talk to in the first place.

Only in Britain... are there handicap parking places in front of a
skating rink.

Only in Britain? I\'ve seen pretty much the same list as the starting one prefaced by \"Only in America...\" ;)

The cheeseburger thingy isn\'t that uncommon at all, when I was younger in Hong Kong (where McD\'s was about the cheapest in the world) I used to get a Big Mac, cheeseburger, large fries, milk shake, apple pie and a medium or small diet Coke to wash it down. And in Pizza Hut (cast your minds back to when it used to be good) I would get the main-course spaghetti as a starter, a medium Sicilian deep-pan pizza and a large diet Coke... like that would make any difference - the pizza alone was about the calorie count for the average adult! This order often made the servers wonder when the other person would get there... lol

As for the dead Brits, I\'d have my doubts about the veracity of some of them.

The 9V battery? Unless there\'s something else going on I so don\'t buy that - not enough amperage.

I\'d definitely believe it happens but \"serious\" burns from the ciggy when putting on a jumper? I\'ve gotten worse from a carpet! :D

Such \'mishaps\' are universal (re. the Darwin Award\'s). It\'s still funny to read a list of such things once in a while. Lets us get a chuckle fromf some of life\'s mishaps.

Same thing for Canada.

I also have serious doubts about the deaths from testing 9 volt batteries on their tongues. If it is true, then there must be more going on then just testing the battery on their tongue.

Well I\'m guessing that a lot of stupid people are doing it, and a good chunk of said stupid people probably have heart issues

Wow!

I say we make 9V batteries illegal and available only to those with a special licence.

This madness must cease...how many more innocent lives need to be thrown away before the \'powers that be\' come to their senses and bring a halt to this reckless endangerment???

When my nephew was 6 or 7 I showed him how to see if 9v batteries were good or not....he was not amused. Wailing and gnashing of teeth ensued.

And now for something completely different. (I\'m a big fan of trivia) In Britian\'s the king was very prominent and the queen was somewhat in the background. Now the Queen is very prominent and the king is seldom mentioned. When and why did this reversal happen??

I\'m just an ignorant yank, but I don\'t thing England has a king. They guy married to the queen doesn\'t get to be king just because he married the right lady.
Not sure when that happened, but possibly with QE1?

As for the original list:
I\'ve sucked plenty of 9V batteries. No harm done. Truth is though that several people die each year by trying to use a car battery as a defibrilator.

And the Diet Coke thing makes perfect sense if you have an understanding of the marketing and product history of the Coca Cola company (remember \"new coke\"?)
PM me if anyone wants the full explanation.
(for me personally, they taste close enough so given the choice of one that has something bad for me and one that doesn\'t, why bother to add more of the bad stuff?)

The King died in the 50\'s if I recall correctly (bit before my time). Which was when Queen Elizabeth ascended the thrown. Should anything happen to the Queen then the next in line is Charles so we would then have a King again.

However there is lots of talk that Charles should not ascend the thrown and should step down when it happens and pass the title on to Prince Harry/William, either way we end up with a King again.
