The rules have been published in White Dwarf 137 (May 1991) and White Dwarf 138 (June 1991).

So it\'s a trademark issue rather than a copyright issue.
I cincerely doubt they registered \"confrontation\" though it\'s possible. Question is, did they register it internationally?

GW aren\'t going to take on the likes of Rackham. They\'ve got too much financial clout and would fight their corner.

Sorry for not writing the full names but I \'m a bit afraid of having legal issues with the cool artists from the \"nice\" crimson dragon company!lol
Oh,and I once saw a letter from GW about a mini they considered to be made after one of them and a name they copyrighted.They asked things to be \"fixed\" when they could have attacked so the bad guys may be not the ones we think.
I think reputation of a \"bad\" company depends on how many ex-workers you read telling bad stories in the forums.

Yeah.I have seen some of these \"letters\" from GW. I think they are crap. Part of soem urban legend maybe.
The news about Confrontation is pretty old. I have some of their miniatures. I would work with them, but I don\'t have any of the old IG arms and equipment to finish them.
But it would be wicked cool to see Rackham versus Games Workshop. But you know the legal battle would just give GW an excuse to have a price hike.lol

There\'s a company in my home town called Inquisition Miniatures. GW has taken them to court a few times now trying to prosecute them over 20+ counts of copyright violation, GW only had one count upheld and have had to pay the bulk of the court and legal fees each time. It seems that if you are able to stand up for yourself GW rarely win.
I should add that some of Inquisition\'s miniatures are blatant ripoffs (of the 40K line in particular) which I think proves how hard it must be for GW to prosecute successfully.
Like has been said already - GW try bullying people into submission just hoping that works because legally their accusations don\'t hold much weight.

Rackham have a better chance than most of slapping GW. I bet they make a tidy profit now. They don\'t have a sprawling mass of shops to piss profit away, do they?
