Okay since I'm prepping for Euro-Militaire next month (Four pieces complete) And something I was going to go for went "pear shaped Big style" this morning, I decided to try a different style.
So I started this a little before 12 and barring a half hour for a trip to the Post Office got to this point by 17:30.
A bit of a Selfie. Tee Hee!

Love it Mike, good humour & concept. I also like the pastel colours you have used.
I think you have a little more hair irl :)

I have wanted to paint a flat for a long time, just never got around to it. I may have to look into getting one.

Nice! I have my eye on a few flats. I really like the seasons in the Mucca style and I like the The ww2 style girly flatz by phillip I think?

Cannon_Fodder it's basically a huge seam line in the inner leg which didn't show up until after I'd started painting the bloody trousers.
Wouldn't care but the Face, Jumper and Leather Jacket have all come out exactly as I wanted them. It's had to go into the Dettol ready start again.

Painting Flats is "Different" as the highlighting structure for them needs some really careful thinking as opposed to a fully 3D figure. It's akin to getting NMM right, I suspect that should AndyG or Ten Ball try their hand at one they'd go 1,2,3, Click got it now! and be throwing them out as good as their normal figures.
I have one of the 'Mucha style' flats but that will take some careful planning as the approach to that will have to be very PASTEL in colour and subtle shading.

The picture I've used was taken on My Ipad and not under the best of conditions as the Red Shirt is quite strongly highlighted and shadowed.

Ah, Mucha, one of my absolute favourite Art-Nouveau gurus...

Probably also why I carry such a warm heart for the band Sylosis :)

That flat thing, is it really flat-flat, or a bit bas-relief? in any case, looks good.

They tend to be semi round with relief details, but there are some very true flat flats out there.
