something to go on a big horse

I\'m stuck............i\'ve come up with an idea for my next project, but, i am at a loss as what components to use to make the damn thing.

i am planning on using the Archaeon horse (original i know!) and putting a hulking great vampire or wight on top of it. think along the lines of the film Sleepy hollow and you get the idea (headless horseman dude) and yes i will make a big tree to go in the background.

so aside of allthat wittering, i am stuck as to what to use as a start for the mounted figure. the horse is really rig and i want to get rid of all the archaeon bits. is there another mounted figure big enough for this horsie?

answers on a postcard please!

It might not be what you\'re looking for as an answer, but perhaps something a little sci-fi.
It wouldn\'t be the easiest thing to find an appropriate model for (in which case ignore this reply. But then, if you\'re set on fantasy, you should anyway...), especially in the 40k universe. However, it would be rather strikingly unusual.
If you don\'t sway outside of 40k for your sci-fi (nothing to be ashamed of, i don\'t), there\'s the Savlar Chem-riders. I don\'t think i\'ve ever seen Archaon\'s horse wearing a gas-mask before! In the same position myself, i\'d go for an inquisitor or ecclesiarchal figure, or quite likely a future-gothic knight crusader on a slightly bionic-ed horse. In fact, i like that idea enough to do so, even if admittedly not on a horse quite that big...

Again, probably not the answer you were hoping for, but perhaps it\'ll spark off some inspiration nevertheless.

The GW Manfred Von Carstien mini is quite big. But I do agree most vampire minis are too slender to look right.
Maybe one of the westwind gothic horror minis? Or try bulking something out using the limbs off old chaos warriors. They\'re usually quite big. plus elven heads are about the right size.

I would use the archeon body and use a vampire like head. Space marine heads are big so are some of the marauders. You couls also use a dark elf head as well. You would have to do some resculpting on the cloak and maybe some frilly bits on archeons armour but it should look good.

he swill have some type of head, either vampirish or skull type instead, i am just having a hard time finding a good base to start from. and he needs to be fantasy

You might be best just using greenstuff to bulk out parts of a model as this will give a bit more versatitily in what kind of model you could use,

the first mini that came to mind when you asked about it was the Malus Darkblade on cold one mini, but i suppose a skinny dark elf wouldnt fit the role :)

maybe krell\'s body with some chaos mounted legs. need a bit of converting but it could work (and he seems pretty big for an undead model)

Archeons legs are attached to the horse arent they. If so then just use a chaos (Old type) body and arms and marauder head. Sculpt some poncy hair and frilly sleaves and neckerchief and there you go. One poncy Vampire. Make sure you give him the biggest sword you can find archeons should do.

the thing is that i want to get rid of the archaeon legs on the sculpt as well. i want to use the horse and then have something completely different riding it, different pose completeley
