So, I drop a mini. Its fully painted. Its a wizard with a pointy hat. Pointy hat knicks the chair before hitting the cushy rug. Its a red hat now with a silver tip.

Should I just paint over the exposed metal with the original highlight? Or should I do some super precise-re-priming??????? I only have spray primer....

oh dear lord dont prime it!!!!

just use some black paint and clean up the nick.. repaint it the color you need

and bob\'s your uncle.

If you really need to prime just that spot, spray onto a brush and brush the spot.

Thats the thing though... DO I? I\'ve never painted on bare metal... The color will be 50\\50 blazing orange\\blood red. I guess if I do unthinned black then unthinned 50\\50? Or

paint on the primer like u said? Hmm.

You should be able to just paint over the spot with your reds and oranges and get away with it, just make sure to re-varnish the guy because it\'ll chip easier next time.

Overly thinned paints won\'t cover on bare metal very well, the first coat might benefit from going on a bit thicker than usual.

I\'d prime that spot. It\'s a pointy hat, right? It\'s an exposed point, right? You definitely want the paint to adhere, otherwise it will potentially come off with a slight rub. Use some white brush-on primer if you\'re painting with red and orange.

Never spray onto a brush it has a stick adhesive on it and does the same thing to it as dipping a brush in super glue. Believe me i\'ve done it.

Thanks for the advice... I\'ll attempt a simple undiluted paint on to start.

If it doesn\'t work, I\'ll hit it with some brush on primer.

did you prime white or black?

spray a bit too close to a paper plate and pick up some of that with a cheap brush. You will need mineral spirits or other solvent (finger nail polish remover is acetone) to clean your brush.

Dab a bit of that primer in the hole the paint left. Wait overnight. Paint like normal.

Play mini? Put several coats of dulcoat on or a good coat of gloss on then a coat of dulcoat.

Show min? One light coat of dulcoat and don\'t hande it.

This is precisely one of the reasons a friend of mine likes stained glass medium as a primer.
It paints on like a brush on mat varnish. It\'s completely invisible.
You can brush it on over the spot that\'s come off and if you spill it onto adjoining other parts, you don\'t have to repaint because it\'s clear and apparently it\'s a great primer.
