Very, very talented! An amazing piece there - I'm surprised his fingertips aren't absolutely shredded meat after that song. I might have to dig around for more of his music, thanks for posting matty!

Matty, nice fine mate.
Really appreciate the skill & talent John Butler was showing. The music had life there. (Did anyone else notice that he was only flying on eleven strings though? The missing peg caught my eye.)

Ah John Martyn, that takes me back to the folk club nights in the Bridge Hotel. But that clip was done way back in '78. Bugger!

I remember reading somewhere he just prefers playing without that string...no idea why.

Thats got to be one of my favorite John Martyn live videos, that (Rockpalast 1978) and the old grey whistle test live set for the BBC. Both shows he is off his box and really giving it some welly. Shame we'll never again be able to see him live.

Peace and love...

That is one rippin' hippie. What a song, what finger work.
Reminded me of a fellow from the other end of the spectrum - Roy Clark. Big country and western guy who could play almost any instrument and play it well. Here he's playing Malaguena - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxDQQDF6j0Y Especially check out what he does at 3:45.

he only has the single G for bending during solo work. ocean is amazing he plays it different every live gig he plays, that one is his best tho:)
he is one of the best live acts i ever saw, inc rod and gab.

sweet music to listen to while painting. Reminds me of something someone played for me one time. Always makes me smile.
