Sophie (and I) need help

I realize that an 8 is not possible without a major showbase. But mid 7\'s are do-able. I really want this mini in that range. Help me get her there.

OK my own critique:

What happed to her legs? She forget to shave this morning? (set at table too long and got dust bunnies. Brush her off tonight and redo)

Need to turn her so you can see her face better. (I actually have a set of eye that I like on this mini.)

Need another highlight on the hair.

I think the NM silver on the present came out well. The golds need a touch more work. Help?

It\'s looking good already! Two things caught my eye: your skin tones are quite flat - bits that should be in shadow are almost the same tone, and your blacklining whilst carefully and well done is a little stark between the flesh and other areas. You could kill two birds with one stone if you went through to some darker fleshtones. Give the skin a coat of matte varnish too - leave the porno PVC shiny! I\'d finish the base in different colours to the rest of the model to set it off - possibly contrasting or more muted tones. This should easy be in the 7s!

The NMM gold is a little dull. To shine it up try blending pure white or a really light yellow onto the mini and glaze back down carefully with dilute yellow ink:D

Is this a 54mm?

The hair and face are very well done, and look good.

A darker wash in between the fingers would help \'seperate\' them a bit more, and possibly have a little more definition.

The black lining looks uneven in spots.
I think you are using a too thick consistency of paint (i really struggle with this too)

I hope my criticism isn\'t a bit rough, I only mean it to be constructive.

I wish I had your photography skills.;)

I somehow have the feeling that the paints are too thick and too shiny. I can\'t really put my finger on it, but something tells me \"This paint is too thick\". I don\'t know if it obscures detail.... I doubt it though. Somehow something about the red strikes me as strange....

And what I see of the eyes is really good I think! If you could make a photo that details them better I would be delighted ;)

Thanks all

@Spacemunkie, as I tell everyone here, think in terms of stage makeup - then I go and leave mine to flat. [egg-on-face emoticon]

@JKaen, the wings were going to be a dark red brown, but I got carried away with the highlights and enjoyed the effect. Now that I look at it, it looks kinda like zombe flesh. I will probably change it.

@SuperVike, lay it on me brother, my skin is thicker than Sophies. ;) I want her (and me) better that means taking my lumps.

@Mosh, yes, I need a pic that shows off her face.

Again, thanks all.

Thoughts on doing the base as a snowdrifted area? Reaper provided that neat snowflake base, but I am not happy with it.

A snow base would be brilliant, I don\'t like the base that comes with it (snowflake/demonic spiderweb effect).

The cool colours of the base may contrast nicely with her warm colours.

Great Pic!

Hey Airhead...the model looks good and it\'s a great photo. One of the clearest ones I\'ve seen.

As mentioned, the flesh could definitely do with a few high and lo lights. She has a great feel to her - you can come and paint my nails if you like \'cos Sophie\'s look great! :D

I think the whole pic suffers from being a bit too yellow. Try playing with the colour balance on your comp, or right on your camera. I can really only echo other people for the rest: More highlights/shading on everything, especially the gold and red (the skin looks nice already). Maybe also try to tone down the shine a bit. Before I had a good matte like Testors, I just wouldn\'t spray the mini until after the pics.

I think it\'s just practice practice from here.. adding a few highlights here and there.. finding a balance where to stop and such(which is a PITA, took me such a long time !) I don\'t think the photo\'s bad, it\'s been auto-leveled(or it didn\'t need it, tested in Photoshop)
One thing she needs though is a bit of blacklining between the fingers. More shading on the skin and highlighting on the NMM gold and this is an 8 :D

To be honest I think it\'s a matter of improving the overall paintjob. Try and neaten up the edges and avoid wonky dark lining. As mentioned, the paint may also be a tad thick. As Calavera says, practice, practice, practice!

Thanks all.

Snow base is in progress.

Wings are being repainted (back to dark red/brown). Darker flesh wash to be applied. Followed by a last highlight. Last pop on the NM gold.

& Tooshy, I used to paint nails with my airbrush. Want a custom set, come on by, but leave the molegrips at the door.lol

Becca, I use a mag set of glasses. Just got a new set. Wow, everything is so different.
