Hi all

I\'m new to posting pic\'s (probably something to do with not having many models worth sharing...)

However i\'ve managed to paint one that i\'m proud of so thought i\'d seek opinion on how to make it better.

Let me know what you all think

Hi there and welcome...........
I like this work there are a couple of things that stand out.
Firstly there is a huge mould line down the centre of one arm..That alone will spoil any paintjob you do.
I love the base the leaves have been applied to look so natural nice one.
Overall the painting is neat but some areas need to be highlighted a bit more to add more depth.
Also it may be worth thinning your paints a bit as this may help get rid of some of the graininess on parts.
Nice work though..

her skin tones are yellow. Incandesent lights? Either color correct or use halogen bulbs.

Did you use inks or washes? The areas around the boots are a bit heavy. Smoother blends in those recesses would help - washes and inks will pool there so you have to draw them back out with a clean brush. Thinning your paints a bit more will help.

The face and eyes are nice as is the base.

Cheers for the comments.

The model had been painted by applying thin washes (3 part water 1 part paint). I started off using a mid tone (Valejo Game Colour - Elf flesh), this was then shaded using Dwarf Flesh and then Dark Flesh in the deepest shadows. The model was then highlighted with elf flesh and pale flesh.

It looks better in the flesh (so to speak) and has a more natural skin tone, I\'m no good at taking pics.

Any advice on getting a better picture?

As for the acursed mould line, by the time i\'d noticed it was there it was too late, for some reason it shows up far more in photos.

Love the base - where are the leaves from? Are they shaped paper leaves or something?

Shame about the mould line, but if you\'re willing to repaint it, it should scrape off easily enough.

The leaves....

....they are actual leaves (or some i\'m led to beleive). that have been dipped in something to give them extra durability.

There is company on the internet that does them, can\'t for the life of me remember what it\'s called.???

I had the same problem with that mould line on my Sophie. I think the wingts are realy holding this down. I would pick out the claw on each wing with a different color and I would highlight each of the wing ribs as well.

Did the vote thing. The handle on the sword is crooked (well to me anyway) More contrast on this mini cause the areas (flesh and wings)are so large you need to step up the contrast.

Love the base.
