Sorting things out...

I posted maybe a month back about loads of crap that had been going on, and loads of bad, down in the dumps stuff.
I got loads of great advice off loads of people, and PM\'s asking afterwords about things.

So heres whats been happening,
The bank are still absolute $%£$@, but iv been seeing Mella at college (mentor/councellor type) and shes has helped massively in getting things adjusted and sorting out finances, a couple of month and things should be running smoothly again with that.
Mella has also helped with the family stuff, which things are getting better.

Now college, i was under motivated, and couldn\'t be arsed to get up on a morning. Had a talk and a tutorial with Paul last Friday and decided that all this week i would come in, catch up on an old brief and do an entire (or at least try) brief by today. I have been in every day 9-4 and sometimes longer. And in Pauls word \'worked my bollocks off\' which is great stuff, managed to get about 95% of everything done, a few things to tie off on monday, but Paul just told me to go home today and chill out.
Plus looking back on other work, im getting sound passes (which is good for my skill level) but with a bit of extra umph in certain skills could be looking at merits by the end of this year. (then there is only a distinction to raise to, for which i would have a full year)

So, to cut a long story short, thing have been looking up and geting better, just want to say thanks to everyone on here, because if it wasnt for your words (and quite frankly kicks up the ol arse ring) i might never have been motivated enough to do this. Cheers everyone!

IM NOT IN DEBT!

Well, in one sense. Iv sorted out a student account with an agreed overdraft (which can rise as i havn\'t set it at the limit), paid off my older account (which had £179.30 OD  ) and closed that account!
I know technically im still in debt, but it stops the w$£%^&s at the bank ringing twice a day blabbing on about credit ratings and arrears.
Time to buy myself a celebratory mini! As i havn\'t bought any in weeks!

Great News Matty.

However here\'s an idea, save the money you would spend on a mini and get something for Laura instead.
Trust me, it would be a valuable investment. ;)

Hehe! Im going to get her something tomorrow when im at work, its just deciding what ??? . I ended up spending quite a bit today, £60 on pantone markers and £40 on page layout books, expensive stuff, but atleast i wont have to scrounge at college anymore, its nice to have the money now to buy some proper kit and get sorted out, all this comes before minis, iv learnt that from the past.

Glad things are looking uo mate, but borrowing from peter to pay back paul?....???

and then spending £100 on felt tip pens?

Sorry mate, don\'t mean to piss on your chips, but now you have a bit of breathing space, try not to let yourself get in trouble again.

Basically means the same as \"Rain On Your Parade\", but not quite as easily recoverd from.

OrkyDave: for a student in financial Pooh and trying to manage it, it is the best way to work. Not perfect mind you but it does work.
PS: Been hearing some praise on how helpful you\'ve been to a friend of mine. Two thumbs up on that. :D

I know, it kind of sunk in after I posted it that everyones situation is different, and I know that Matty has had a lot of advice and the decision he has made has been an informed one and I am now sure for the best. Its just that I am now 27, and will only be debt free from a squandered youth in august this year. I would hate to see any one find themselves in the mess I was in a couple of years ago, thats all.

This IS fantastic news Matty, and a very mature step for someone your age. I think the point I was trying (albeit badly) to make is now that you can see the light at the end of the tunnel, don\'t stop trying to get out.

Helping a friend? Hmmm, could you shed some light on that for me DR?

Yea but the last time i had money i bought models instead of these, iv learnt from my mistake, the books and pens i thought were a bit more of an investment, they will last years and soon pay themselves off. Plus iv only got a £500 student overdraft, it can be more but iv set it at that so i don\'t have the urge to go mad. I have a couple more books about typography and colour use to get off amazon, then after that im sorted for ages. (and trust me they are expensive, i wouldn\'t be able to get all this with just my part time job)

But now its all managable, its not just overdrawn money which im getting charged on.
