yes I\'ve used my desk lamps before to help me with highlight placement but that was when I was learning the art of basic highlighting instead of trying to drybrush something.
I\'m trying to get the hang of zenithal lighting and the idea of it makes sense . . . paint something to look like a light source is present, got that . . . but my brain can picture it but my hands can\'t execute it unless I\'ve got a visual reference.
If zenithal lighting is something you are still learning, like myself, then this tool may help those who are visual learners. Give me a sketch pad, pencils or pen and an object, tell me to draw the object and I\'m good. Take the object away and you get something very abstract looking.
One of my favorite exercises in art class was an assignment we had where we picked an object in the room (I chose a watering can) and then draw the object without staring at your paper or lifting your pen (for the most part).
I could only do that though because I had the item right in front of me.
So, yeah I think this tool was a good find Einon. If you don\'t need it then that\'s a great skill you have. However, there are some of us who do need it or would at least LIKE to have it.
Hence I posted it after finding it at the Oz Team Painting Forum.
