Hi guys,

Can anyone give me any help on where to actually highlight space marine armour.

I find it hard as it\'s so flat... and i seem to just highlight everywhere lol !?! and it don\'t look realistic.

My suggestion would be to look around through the gallery.

There are many, MANY, variations on shading and highlights. It all depends on what look you are going for.

If it\'s just table-top, I would say just pick out the edges.
Usually can\'t go wrong with that.

Thin your paints to the consistency of skim milk.
Plan out how you\'ll pick out the highlights.
(edges, light source direction, high points on plating, etc.)
Build slowly and blend smoothly.
PRACTICE!
Even I forget that practice is necessary for getting better at anything new. I\'ve found though, for smooth highlights, and shading for that matter, it is so much better if you plan them out first.

You might even try White priming and Black or Dark Gray wash before you start painting.
This will go a long way to showing you where to highlight in a relatively realistic and natural manner.

Hope that helps!
And if your are visual like I am, I would definitely go trawling the gallery.
Well worth the inspiration!
