Space Marine world bases

Hi,

I\'m thinking of doing an example of each chapter (or at least the ones I can find colour schemes for!!) and would like to do bases that represent either their home world or a conquered planet.
Have any of you guys bumped into resource that might be able to help me out, preferably with pictures?

Cheers,

Lumpy.

PS This is my first post here so knowing my luck the answers in there somewhere just not under something I searched on!!

PPS It\'ll be a while before I publish a piccy as I\'ve just returned to painting after 18 years!!!! :)

Just search mate! on GW site ,chapter approved, warseer, dakka, here or even google it. You can get the names of all the homeworlds and the type of planet it is.

Ok, I\'ll go in order from the list in Codex: Space Marines

Dark Angels: Caliban, forest
Emperors Children: Chemos, mining/industrial
Iron Warriors: Olympia, mountainous
White Scars: Chogoris, plains/steppe
Space Wolves: Fenris, ice
Imperial Fists: Inwit, ice
Night Lords: Nostramo, urban
Blood Angels: Baal, red desert
Iron Hands: Medusa, mountainous
World Eaters: Unknown (they probably ate it ;) )
Untramarines: Macragge, rocky
Death Guard: Barbarus, diseased
Thousand Sons: Prospero, desert
Luna Wolves: Cthonia, urban/hive
Word Bearers: Colchis, Feudal
Salamanders: Nocturne, volcano
Raven Guard: Deliverance, mining
Alpha Legion: Unknown

I got this from a mix of Index Astartes and Wikipedia. Seeing as I couldnt find anything about the Word Bearers other than they are from a feudal world how about cathedral flagstones?

World Eaters: \"Carpinus\' Speculum Historiale speaks of Angron\'s world as technologically advanced, (though does not name it), ruled over by a caste of wealthy elite who lived in decadent opulence while the populace of their cities lived in abject poverty in the slums surrounding their walled palaces\" from this I think you could represent the world as urban or you could go for the mountainous look where Angron\'s gladiator army made its last stand.

Alpha Legion: Nothing is known about their homeworld or if they even had one as they seem to be a fleet bourne chapter, they may have had an asteriod base or some such thing but records are unclear, the first meeting of Alpharius was with Horus in space on board a cruiser, so I reckon you got a free hand there mate.

I have a copy of the original Roge Trader book and chapter approved at home, if you need some info from back when the game was launched pm me and I can look it up. I don\'t know if there is much homeworld info but there are a ton of chapter colours in the Chapter Approved book.

Dark Angels: Caliban, forest

That was originally. If you want to base it off current homeworlds, I\'d go with a gothic temple look. Caliban was blown to high heaven durring the Heresy, so their current homeworld is a floating asteroid temple-fortress.
Emperors Children: Chemos, mining/industrial

Purged by the Inquisition. Currently they live on a demon world within the Eye of Terror shaped by their primarch to look like Chemos as he imagined it, full of amazing art and beautiful arcitecture.
Iron Warriors: Olympia, mountainous

Purged by the Inquisition. Currently they live on a metal fortress world where the defenses constantly shift and the sounds of techsmiths at the forge is constantly heard.
White Scars: Chogoris, plains/steppe
Space Wolves: Fenris, ice
Imperial Fists: Inwit, ice
Night Lords: Nostramo, urban

Destroyed, dead, and purged as usual. Their current demon-world is covered in perpetual night where no light can find them and they can continue their evil deeds away from prying eyes.
Blood Angels: Baal, red desert
Iron Hands: Medusa, mountainous
World Eaters: Unknown (they probably ate it ;) )

Current demon-world is an evil planet where boiling blood flows like rivers and war is always raging.
Untramarines: Macragge, rocky
Death Guard: Barbarus, diseased

Current demon world is riddled with poxes and plagues. Nurglings caper over the sick and wilting victums of Nurgles plagues, and clouds of flies roam the diseased land.
Thousand Sons: Prospero, desert

Current demon world is as ever changing as the will of Tzeentch and his sorcerous followers. Riddled with magic and ever morphing, shifting, and changing.
Luna Wolves: Cthonia, urban/hive

The black legion\'s world is as a world dedicated to Undivided chaos should be, chaotic and full of mixed representation of Tzeentch, Slaanesh, Khorn, and Nurgle as well as the influences of many lesser demons.
Word Bearers: Colchis, Feudal

For all the piety that the Dark Angles put in their litanies and tactics, they could never match the single minded fervor of the Word Bearers. Litanies of dark faith and acts of perverse piety are everwhere on their corrupted planet.
Salamanders: Nocturne, volcano
Raven Guard: Deliverance, mining
Alpha Legion: Unknown
That\'s just it, they never realyl left the Imperium. While the other legions fled, the Alpha Legion stayed in the Imperium to wreak havoc from their hidden temples and bases on Imperial worlds.

For the demon worlds, White Dwarf 312 has an excellent article with pictures and ideas for making tables and such that I\'m sure could be applied to your bases. The same issue has excellent pictures of how to make realistic icey show bases.
