Hello everyone,

I was just on the ForgeWorld website and it seems that in the new Imperial Armour book (Vol. 4) there will be the rules for a new SM chapter: the Red Scorpions.

ForgeWorld sells the figs and they look nice, I was just wondering if any of you had more infos on those new SMs :)?

Thanks in advance

I think your best bet would be searching a diferent kind of forum like warseer.com or dakka.com.
To the best of my knowledge they have strong connections to the adeptus meachanicus and paint scheme wise they are grey with a yellow central stripe down the helmet. Only the iconography is red.
Hope this helps. Calcipher

Well, I wouldn\'t exactly call them \"New\" the Red Scorpions chapter has been around since the Rouge Trader days.
It seems to me they\'re trying to get old gamers back with \"Nostalgia\" chapters.

On a side note, I personally think the different rules for each chapter is lame.

Yep the RED SCORPIANS have been around since the 80\'s.

I personally like them, it\'ll be good to have all the old chapters back. I used too like the days when marines came in two versions: The standard version; and their camoflague suits.

I hope they bring back all of the chapters.

Is there just one group of rules for playing standard Space Marines and then perhaps having the leeway to produce your own Exarch or whatever the Marine equivalent might be? Or a special banner rule? I\'m not really up on all this, otherwise it should be really simple. I though that was the way back in the beginning . Am I right?

Back in the beginning a space marine chapter was a space marine chapter, there were no special rules from one chapter to the next.
Granted there were some special characters later, but in the beginning you just paid the points for a sergeant, Veteran Sergeant, captains and the such, the main difference was in how you equipped them.
As of third edition, the Ultramarines were the standard marines, and no real rules for creating your own \"special character\".

You mean 2nd edition ;).

And in the 4th edition WH40K Space Marine Codex you can make your home made Chapter by choosing additional bonuses and maluses.

Actually, I\'d say it\'s never been more open and playable : you pick up the 4th edition Space Marine codex, choose some chapter traits in it (hand to hand combat, all vehicles, no psykers, ... which ever your liking) and voilà, you have your own Chapter and it\'s tournament aprooved.

GW is doing this for almost every army in 40K nowadays.

A bit out of topic, but still : some of the best and funnest do it yourself Chapters I\'ve seen arround here are ManU26\'s \"Smiley Legion Marines\" and Herb the bitter\'s \"Wasp Marines\". Original paint scheme and artistic talent come together with humor :).
