Space Wolf Dreadnought - WIP

When I set out making this I only really intended it to be a bit of a fun mini that used up some old stuff but the encouragement and positive response here has really motivated me to make this into something decent :)

It does have a horus heresy feel to it which was unintended.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to bulk out the legs while still retaining the walker type frame, I should hopefully get some more pics on in the next couple of days.

and finally a quick question, do you think that it currently looks uneven with it having only the one shoulder pad ? I would have given it two but I used the other one to make the rounded chest piece.

The one shoulder-pad doesn't bother me. Something else is though! When I first viewed this thread I thougt it looked really great, but something gnawed at the back of my head, something that wasn't quite right. Now I know what's gnawing! This is of course just my personal opinion, but here goes:)

For starters the top half of the body is placed too far to the right, which makes it seem assymetrical. Unless it's not twisting around its "own axis" that is:) Aaaand besides from that I think that the top half just seems... placed on the lower half, like they're two separate thingies and not one and the same. It lacks some sort of proper jointing. I realize it's a WIP and I'm very impressed, I've couldn't have done it myself, independently both the top half and the bottom half looks awesome, they need something that pulls them together though:) Above is just what struck me as "out of place":) I hope it helps!

i agree ... nearly i think the legs and feet need to be bulked up add some armour plates the feet dont work for me maybe attatch some flat plates to the bottom of those mace toes he looks a little chicken legged at the moment , the top half is spot on

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been very busy this week.

I have made some changes to the Dreadnoughts legs and feet, I have added quite a lot of bulk to the legs to make them less weedy and have removed the Chicken feet in place of something more box shaped and robotic.

Sorry for the pics its getting hard to photograph it now as I have changed the leg pose and it no longer stands on its own.

I would cover up the missile-toes and do something about the obvious base texture on the top of it, right now it looks a bit odd, especially with the green-stuff worm wrapping around it

I still have loads of work to do on the back and top of the dreadnought the base texture shouldn't be noticible when I'm finished.

I quite like the missile toes, when they are painted the same colour as the rest of the foot they should look ok.

Hi,

Sorry for the long delay without updates, I am moving house and am struggling to find the time.

I have been working on this mini on and off and have finally managed to get it finished to a decent level.

Here he is in all his glory:

Cool :good: a great sense of forward movement as he charges forward, so unlike the usual sluggishly clumpy looking Dreadnaught.

Nice paint.

Is that snow on the base? It needs to be thicker (level surface) it looks like puddles of cream (too much grass/rock texture showing through). I looked for a niggle & that's what I found :D

I don't really like robots but this has impressed enough to want to comment :)

Cheers, B.

I was really trying to give it a sense of forward momentum so i'm glad that has come across.

I've run out of the snow effect flock that I use for thicker snow so I've had to make do with what is there, I do agree that it is too thin and looks like cream :)

id say it look a bit more like a witch hunters penitnent engine. I like the movement in this, so different from the usual "tin can" bulky dreads :good:

I have been forced to redo parts of this model as he got damaged (legs, arms, feet etc all broke off).

I decided to redo the base at the same time as the general opinion was it was not great. I have tried to make it more of a diorama the idea being that the Dreadnought is on peacekeeping duty and is patroling the streets of the city.
The pose of the model had to be changed to as I decided to pin the joints and plant both feet on the ground for stability, it doesn't look as dynamic but hopefully it will stay in one piece now :)

Here's the pics:

Let me know what you guys think.
