Space Wolf hero

Hi,

Here is my latest work. Well actually I painted this some time ago, but because it took part a local competition. Apparently it didn\'t win because the competition ended last day.

Anyways, the theme war Winter war, and thus I decided to choose SW marine and snow base is natural choice if we talk about winter.

I really like the way I managed to paint that armour and make it look like its a bit rusted and there is also some battle damage. Not too much I think, but enough to make him look like veteran of many battles.

I paint my thumb.
That\'s looking great, I love the shield especially. Great color choice, you inspired me for a space wolf I have to do soon.

Really nice piece, good work with the armour but i particularly like the skin and metallics, though the model is really good overall.

Just a question, what did you use for the snow?

The shield is my favourite part. Although it\'s all beautifully painted, I think there are too many chips in the armour making it a little over the top, but it is lovely and the yellow on the shoulder pads looks just right. :)

My personal favorite is the face. Truly a beauty! IMHO its not a \'space-wolves-grey\' miniature anymore but more a blue-ish marine.

Thanks for comments.

Its a mix of Baking soda, PVA glue and water. It is a good idea to a some water so that your paste won\'t be too thick and diffucult to apply.

After I applied that relatively gritty paste I sprinkled some soda all over the base. If you have glued the miniature on the base, make sure paint is dry before you start sprinkling anything.

Beautifully done. Simple but sharp battle damage.

Love it... and I really don\'t much care for marines, usually.

I think the face sells me on the mini. Top notch.

Very nice looking model. The same as boristfrog I\'m not convinced with the number of dents and scratches in the armour, but the shield is spot on.

How did you do the yellow on the shoulder pads and shield hazard lines? It just somehow looks \'right\'.

It\'s actually Flames of War paint German Cam. Orange Ochre. Though Vallejo MC Goldbrown is quite similar color.

Highlights: I added mix of Rackham Noesis white and Vallejo wolf grey.
Shading German C.O.O + snakebite leather (or cobra leather) and finally some Bestial brown to that mix of German C.O.O and S. leather.

The idea was not to use any bright or \"pure\" yellow at all I order to make it look a bit more realistic or less cartoonish.

Fantastic job! I noticed that the head looks identical to the head from one of the chaos marauders(mounted I think)? Does GW use the same heads or is from that set? or am I on crack? That is entirely possible, I have been known to \"sleepwalk\".. maybe i \"sleepbuycrack\".. :drunk:

It\'s from the mounted marauder set. It is suitable for Space wolves though I had to make its neck a bit larger with green stuff.
