Ok. I'm gonna try this post again. I posted last night but for some reason the post isn't appearing. Let me know what you think. I know I have a long way to go. I'm working on my blending and paint consistency. I know you will be able to point out many things that need work or I did incorrectly, but if possible could you please point out something that you like. You can scroll through all the pics on the right side of screen when you use the link.
Thanks TJ

Your attempting lots of things here. I like the conversion as a whole, try using smaller amounts of green stuff. Thin your paints to a milky consistancy and apply thin layers of paint. Also your painting doesnt have to be AMAZING when you start. If you paint neat block colours to start will look alot better also a good basecoat of black is good as it acts as shade in the recesses of the model. Just keep painting, post here often and you will get better.

Thanks I'll try that. I plan on posting most things I paint. I'm hoping that both the neg and pos feedback will make me a better painter.

Firstly I'll start by saying that though it can be hard try not to take feedback as a negative thing but a positive thing, wether it be a compliment or a suggestion on something you could improve! Now, on to the mini. I like the purity seal ribbons and the OSL on the plasma pistol. How long did you spend on this mini? Theres quite a few spots where I feel more time would be a huge improvement, for example his face. I feel a few more coats of paint would take this a long way. His face is very blotchy right now and I feel it's purely because you don't have a solid basecoat layed down. A good practice piece would be to take a model and just box in the colors keeping it neat and tidy. Don't try any new techniques just try and get all of your colors to a solid consistent tone by using multiple slightly diluted lairs of paint. As your painting evolves your discover for yourself how much you like your paints thinned etc, some things I use paint right out of the pot, other things I dilute to the consistency of skim milk, it all depends what your trying to accomplish! Also it sounds silly but makes a huge difference to painting quality in my opinion, make sure your work space is well illuminated!

Thanks for the info. It's funny, I tried doing what you said earlier today before you posted this message. I did poorly with it so the minis are in a bath of purple power to get the paint off and I'll try it again tomorrow. The face actually has 3 different shades to it. The blotchy stuff is probably due to a poor wash that I applied as a last minute idea. The plus is I learned how not to apply a wash to the face. When I painted this guy I had a very strong overhead lamp but it wasn't a daylight bulb. I've since invested in two small clamp on lights (they clamp onto the shelving next to my table) and 3 daylight bulbs. Wow what a difference they make. I'm sure if I had those when I painted this one I would have done a little better. As for the negative feedback. It doesn't bother me. I know that it's pointing out my weak points and I should work on them. I only ask for a bit of positive feedback so I know if I'm doing anything decent at this stage. I am experimenting with paint dilution. I'm very bad at it at the moment. When I'm applying the paint I can tell if I like the consistency but it's a matter of keeping the color that consistency as it tries to dry on the palette. For the record I think I spent about an hour or so with the green stuff sculpting him and about 4 hours painting. I'm guessing a bit at the times. I tried not to watch the clock on this one and just enjoy myself. Thanks for your time. I hope you'll comment on my future submissions.
