managed to finish these today

i got a fair amount of practice in with wet blending on these, as well as messing about with mud effects.
first proper go at battle damage as well.

thought i would pop them up here and get some honest feedback from you guys.

Class. Very industrial.

What static grass did you use and how did you apply it? Mine always ends up looking like clumps of moss..... :(

thanks guys :)

scott the grass was noch wild grass from ec scenics (in the static grass section) http://www.ecscenics.co.uk/index.html?lmd=39064.956759

then little bits of static grass around the edges of those clumps. the wild grass doesn\'t have the static charge that your used to scott so it\'s takes a little faffing around with, uncluding plucking bits out when the pva is dry.

@orkboy, the mud is very fine flock, pva, water and pigment (mixed to the same consistancy as diohrea)
then when dry, pigment, gloss varnish and water.
once dry create puddles with gloss varnish.
for some reason the gloss varnish works better than water effects for this ??? go figure.

going to be trying that french style next :)

i\'ll put a how i did them in the wip tutorial thread thingy.

here it is http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/viewthread.php?tid=20279

Extremely well done, your blending is flawless, colors are dark and brutal, the weathering is perfect (how is all the chipping done?) - makes them look really battle hardened and together with the bases it comes out very realistic.
Only thing I don\'t agree with is the amount of yellow/warning stripe areas, wouldn\'t have done quite so much my self, can\'t explain excatly why just that imo it\'s a litte to much, but thats personal preference and the painting is still great :)

There are too many things to comment on. The bases are awesome love em. The battle damage is top notch. They look well used. The bit I like the best is the mud. How you have wet mud and then dry stuff further up the leg. Awesome stuff.

thanks guys :)

these where just an experiment with wet blending, chipping and mud effects.

gonna be a shame to sell them but they are going to have to go eventualy.

they are going to be my entry for 40k squad.

doubt they will get anywhere as they aren\'t in the pale blue colour scheme of modern space wolves.

stuff the pale blues this is a good look for the wolves ..great work all round If I was gonna be arsy I\'d say a little too uniform looking ..but I ain\'t it\'s just a thought awesome work.....

Wow.

These are fantastic...screw the blue/grey space wolves, these walk all over them!

The bases look fantastic, and your blending is superb.

Just a few questions...
Where did you find the bare heads? Mainly the bald one...a little modification and it\'d be perfect for one of my templars, which are probably all going to have swappable heads...(I love making work for myself.)

And how do you do your skin and hair? It looks wonderful...very realistic and smooth.

I believe that bald head is from the forgeworld space wolf conversion parts....good luck with seperating it from the body thou its a one piece mould...

yep, the heads are part of the torsos that you get with the forgeworld kit.

the skin was done using the layering technique to start with (as i did these before i had got the hang of the juice technique)
dwarf flesh with a dark brown added and a little dark green.
add bleach bone for highlights.
use glazes of reds and purples for shading and adding character.
skim over points where glare spots will be with glossy white.
i can\'t remember fully with the hair, i remember it was done with washes and the highlights where tweeked.

hope that helps.
