Space Wolfes Or Eldar

Hi i am new here. I have a question that;s being bugging me. Currently i am thinking of buying a new army, i already have orks. From all the armies i have looked at, two have caught my eye. The eldar and the space wolfes. Could you help me decide by providing me with some info on both armies, since i do not have codex. For example short history of each race, point value if possible, how good do they perform in the battle, how good are they compared to other armies, which one is more for a beginner. What are the advantages of armies and disadvantages as well. How good are they to paint, and so on. Many questions. Any info provided will be greatly appreciated. Come on experts, help please. Cheers everyone

ok don\'t play so cant say anything about that. as for painting. sm\'s are boring but easier for larger numbers i reckon. also s.wolves are probably easier to convert. being a bit feral, i\'m sure several chaos bitz can be used to customise them.

to some up. eldar are girly, s.wolves are hard. it\'s up to you.

please bear in mind i don\'t have any of the figures.

It depends on how you want to play.

Spacewolves, basically marines with some funky rules. They\'re interesting, offer some nice conversion opportunities, and I hat the buggers because I can\'t beat them.

Eldar. These are supposed to be getting a revamp from GW soon. There are a few ways to play eldar, but all of them revolve around small elite units that need to be supported. They are fragile, and die easily, but in the right hands can be devastating.

Hope this helps.

Space wolves are pretty scary in close combat, but have some decent long range support options. However, predominantly close combat.

Eldar, will depend on which craftworld you choose, but should be seen as a mobile shooty army with close combat support more than anything else.

Can you mix the 13th company with other space wolves or not.
If the models are new, when did they come out. Also what\'s the difference between ultramarines and the space wolves. Thanks guys for all your posts, keep posting

Wooooooo... they made 13th company minis? What\'s the fun in that... then you don\'t get to buy a box of chaos, and a box of wolves and then three cases of greenstuff... for one minilol No, i like converting other company\'s chaplins into sargents for my 13th company... good fun.

Painting intensity is less with SW models. Fewer models for the same points when compared to the sissy bananaheads. Also SW models generally have alot of cool details that set each apart. If you buy a box you get that nifty SW accessory sprue.

Hi guys, i really like space wolfes, but would really need to know how old the current models are. I sent 7 emails to games workshop asking them how old the models are, there was no response. I would need someone to tell me exactly or very accurately when they were released Also does anyone know if games workshop has anything new ready for the space wolves, are there newer models on their way, if so can you please state when. i really need an answer to this because i am about to make a decision whether to buy them or wait for the upcoming models. Thanks guys and keep posting your comments.

i doubt that any new sw or eldar stuff. although as the sm are quite popular, there may be new stuff that can be converted to sw. the sw models are newer than the eldar models

I was told at my local GW store that they are planning on releasing chapter sprues. so that you can turn any basic plastic SM into a specific chapter. So there will be SW sprues, UM sprues etc.
They had no release schedule or anything though.

I have heard about that as well, it is one of GW\'s good ideas lol

It will save space in stores and will take less time to produce:)

guys, they already do this,
at least, there is a Space Wolves Sprue.

When in the online store, go check out the space wolves Blood Claws or Grey Hunters and click the \"parts\" button (little wrench) and it should bring up the SW Sprue.

no custom shoulder pads, but lots of other stuff...

IMO, SW are the better option over Eldar unless you\'re going Harlequins...
\'cause Eldar just arn\'t there anymore... their tactica is played out, and most of the \"successful\" armies i\'ve heard rely on dirty tricks made by old rules (specifically meant to be dirty tricks...)
