Hi Guys,

Here is a test model for my GD2012 entry. I wanted to get the colour scheme sorted and look at areas I need to improve on. Some details aren't 100% as I will not have anything similar on my entry but I wanted the overall finish to be as high as I could. Already picked up some C&C in my WIP thread so anything else constructive appreciated. Piccies are quite up close to identify weak spots.

Solid work, well up to GD finalists standards I reckon.
Small crits - just watch the colour overlap - on the tips of the White logo on the blue shoulder pad.

The main thing I can see is mould lines, there seems to be a slight mould line which hasn't been completely smoothed off on the right side of his helmet (his right that is) also there is one on the left attachment on his power plant (most noticeable in the pic of his back.
Also some of the highlights appear quite "chalky", drybrushed??? Anyhow I would use a glaze to tone those down a bit.

Hope that helps.

Would taking the helmet through to a cleaner/brighter white be in keeping with what you're doing here?

Somewhat similarly, the chest eagle has good depth of shading but feels like it needs final spot highlights to up the contrast.

Brushlicker and Freak!
A solid paintjob.
I agree with previous comments. Now to be hyper-critical (as the judges will be).
The NMM is not convincing, you might be better using the same technique, but with metals.
It is a little 'rough' in places, this could just be the pic. Something you can do is take a pic of a finished mini and look for 'flaws' in the blown up image and go back and correct them if possible.
You could push the highlights a bit, eg with some small 'hotspots'.
The freehand is not quite crisp enough, eg the ultra text could be a bit blacker and sharper.

<hyper-critical mode off>

Nice paint job clean colours and nice light effects on the well err lights. Just a couple of things since you ask your nmm needs more work you need to up the contrast between dark and light so from almost black upto a tiny dot of white and if you can get the black right next to the white glints. A little more smoothing over all of the mini me thinks so more glazing and filtering all over the mini and yep you gotta crisp the lettering and stop any bleed over between sections.

Sound easy when I write it but damn it's difficult and you got to be willing to go back again and again........ I still f*ck up, in listing these things it could just as easily be me I'm telling so don't think it's not good because it is. It's just gotta be next level type thing to get a GD. Good luck!;)
