further yellow mushroom monsters... (dont ask)

hands are drilled to receive a mast and torn sail in one and chain and anchor in the other to act as makeshift club and flail.

the \'lcky drake\' is the name of the ship they destroyed... (its a long rpg plot.)

suggestions appreciated as i have about 50 more of these to do!

This figure stands about 70 mm high including the wreckage on the base.

Looking really good, Brandlin. And that base is fantastic! The only suggestion I have is to increase the shading on the flesh, in particular on the hands, to show that the fingers and fist are separate. 50 more? My goodness, that\'s a fair task you\'ve got there, specially with that basing quality.

The skin on the figure could used a little more shading, I agree. And the base looks cracking!

Where does that figure come from, btw?

i think he rocks! love the base and the fact that there\'s a story behind him. wouldn\'t want to do 50 of them though!!

thank you, thank you ...

... for all the nice comments. The pic is a little more washed out than the actual figure still to master my digita camera completely. I agree with darkeneing the gap between fingers...

The figure is a growler from Vor the maelstrom - still available from Ral Partha Europe or Iron Wind Metals US

Hope those links help...

Yes, i\'ve set a bit of a challenge with the basing standard... but its pretty cool what you can do by gluing matches together if you are inventive enough!

I couldn\'t get those pics to load yesterday when I first tried looking....damn glad I came back!

This is really cool. I love the over the top monster and the base is fantastic.

very cool!
matchsticks for the base you say? very neat idea im going to steal ;). well done all around. the darkening is a a good call.

as for the other 50 (omg! i hope you plan on using them more than once!) how about subtle color variations between individuals -one more forest greenish, one blue greenish, one yellowish, one brownish etc. very subtle mind you - so that they all appear to be the same species, but different individuals. there are plenty of cool base/theme ideas i got from this too - standing on floating barrels, in a sinking crows nest, a captains hat floating in the water, standing in a smaller boat etc. let me know when its done so i can vote!

guys
thank you for all your positive comments.

i have 50 to do but about 25 of them are 28mm scale pups...

i hope to include boat wreckage on all the bases of some description so thanks for the ideas... if you have any more then let me know. I\'ll add pics of WIP to the WIP thread for the others over the coming weeks, months, years!
