Speed-painted Akhamials

You know, it may be the bases throwing things off. It just doesn\'t look \"right\". And I\'m trying to think how I would have improved it. Some free hand, or lines.

But then again, I\'m thinking that if I, myself tried doing free hand or taped off lines/center stripes, it would probably do much worse.

The dots on the front probably needed to be a little more circular, which may help the scores.

So, unless you\'re good with alien language writing, freehand or something to dress up the bases a bit, I\'m not sure my suggestions work.

Aye, the red dots are lacking in elegance. I sploged them on before chucking everything in a case and ruuning out the door!

This will teach me to take photos before doing things like that! lol

They probably took about 12 hours from start to finish, not including time spent eating, sleeping, studying German and generally faffing about (which I am incredibly good at!).

That works out at about 4 hours per figure, which is quick for me- it can take me ages of fidgetting when I paint. I have no idea how that compares to anyone else, but it was pushing it for me, and I was interested to see what I could achieve. It helped that I decided to keep the colours as simple as I could, and a dark paint scheme can hide a multitude of sins!

for refernce on speed almost all my minis in my gallery i jsut paint slowly and enjoy the time painting rather than trying to get the mini done for some GD prize or something. yet for my Logan Grimnar i spent about 3 hours on it, and people say that it looks vetter (in person) than some other things that i tried to paint precisely and slowly. im not the best reference of course, but i have also seen others get better looking results with quicker painting.

it may be something with removing thought from the process and just doing what feels right...for me at least.

i also am apt to start painting and walk away and do something else and come back later. when the nerves and tediousness of it settles.

i wonder what you could do with a single mini in JUST and hour? without worrying about leaving for a game or something.
