Speed Painting April 28

To kick off the release of the Foundation Paints GW stores (at least across Canada) are holding \'events\' tomorrow, the biggie to be a speed painting contest. Was wondering who all was planning on participating and thought there should be a discussion on the topic.

I for one plan on being in the store first thing (the first 20 arrivals get to pick their own mini from the supply the store has prepared). I was a bit disappointed however to learn that by \'speed\' they mean 1 hour. A painter can get a heck of a lot done in an hour if they put their brush to it, I had been hoping something more like 15 min.

Anyway, I hope some others of y\'all plan on participating (assuming this is going on in your area too). I\'m hoping to win my Foundation Paint set rather than forking out the $65 to buy one.

I don\'t see any mention about prizes on the website.

Are you sure they\'re giving away the paint set to the winner?

So how did it go?

I didn\'t make it, but I\'m interested in hearing from anyone who participated.

How did you make out?

I didn\'t win. :(

I would have ranked my mini in the top 3ish but there were no 2nd or 3rd places. I painted a Gandalf the White (which I\'ll post once I take a pic). I tried new techniques, starting from darker browns and greys and highlighting up to white. I suppose a speed painting contest is not the time to try new-to-me techniques.

Maybe it was just our store doing this paint giveaway but the contest itself was at least nation wide I\'d say from the fancy posters which they wouldn\'t print for just one store.

Oh yeah, there were about 60 entries so it was a good day for GW Halifax.
