Not having a telly ( we only watch D.V.D,s & Videos).And loving movies, I go and see a lot of movies at the cinema.
My latest outing was to see Speed Racer.....
I havnt seen such a sureal film since Sin city.
Its like a popart film,:eek:
Its totaly predictable ,but very good eye candy.
It wont win a awards ,but if you like slightly different movies and have Kids then check this out.7/10

i believe you afre only one of the two people in the world who called this movie great....

i didnt go see it with my son because he was grounded...after the box office results and three of my friends calling to tell me they wasted precious moments of their life, i felt good about not going.

the film opened with only 18.6 million.....and that was after they found out that the company reported false earnings.

anyone else have thoughts on this film?

When i saw a trailer a while ago, i saw it was the same dudes who did the matrix, assumed it was going to be a higher rating and therefore be more appealing to me, especially if it had simelar action scenes to the matrix.

When i saw it was a kiddies film i thought agaisnt it, instead when it goes to dvd i will watch it if my little sister gets it.

Basically, could have been kick a@@ but they ruined it by making it for kids. (although i think it is a kids tv show somewhere)

Speed Racer was a Kids TV show, back in the 70s I think it was. Back when the Spiderman Cartoon with the Spider Man Spider Man, Does Whatever a Spider Can song was on.

IIRC it was imported Anime (before the term became popular). Like Astroboy.

I was never a big fan. So this never had any apeal to me.

I never said it was great,7/10 is not a great score, but as a kids movie you could do a lot worse .:D

I gotta agree with vincent on this one. I went in completely expecting eye-candy madness with a shallow and predictable story - and I was completely on target. Fun, pretty and mindless - just like I like my dates! lol

(kidding about the dates, I\'m happily married....)

Of course the second thought after \"Pretty!\" was, if anyone attempts to watch this thing under the influence of something other than alchohol, they won\'t get past the first 15 minutes before thier mind just starts making everything up on its own. Very, very trippy. Makes me wish I still did stuff like that.:rolleyes:

I am a huge fan of early work anime (basically before it became huge...so Robotech, Astroboy, Star Blazers, G-Force) but i never understood Speed Racer. The guy was so thick.

His brother Rex, an expert driver, disappears or apparently dies. Later on when Speed is driving a mysterious racer X appears who constantly helps out speed. Rex...Racer X...make the damn connection Speed.

what always made me laugh was the fact they always introduced racerx with something to the effect of. little does speed know that racer x is actually his brother rex.
ill watch it just cause i love the old series.
nothing like getting to the basics of simple mind numbing anime. plot we dont need a plot. lol
