i am trying to do a diorama of a cleric, Tiriel from hassel free, casting \"turn undead\". i plan to have three or four zombie and skeleton minis surrounding her. any ideas on how to make it look like she is casting a spell and not just standing there praying till she gets eaten.???

Some kind of lighting arcing from her to the undead, perhaps between them as well? Or, as darthfoley suggests, just a bright glow from her hands or staff, illuminating them all very strongly? It\'d be a good use of object source lighting.

Maybe a circle of flames on the terrain with her in center.
You can also put one of the zombies in contact with the circle and sculpt some flames that burn it.
The area from Tiriel and the flames can be colored in different colors to show the path of the magic spell or maybe you can trace a spiral of flames.

I think DragonPaints got a good idea and I was thinking along the same lines but as A Circle of Protection centred on Tiriel.
Instead of flames how about a circle of radience on the ground. And the circle flares with brilliant blue light at the point of contact with the zombies. Might be easier to paint. :)

The problem as I see it is that Turn Undead is a subtle spell, and would have no visible dweomer. If you were to do \'Destroy Undead\' instead you could do the flames thing, with the nearest ones fully aflame, the middle ones just catching, and the further back ones as yet unharmed.

Or you could have the undead closest to her crumbling to dust while the others are backing up with their hands covering their faces.

Isn\'t your \'geek alarm\' ringing off the hook??lollollol (just kidding Markus)

I like the flame idea too, but if you do want it more \'subtle\' how about the area around Tiriel being painted in bright \'lit up\' colors. Every thing outside of the circle could be painted very dark, using limited colors.

Maybe a mix between Evil Dave and Supervike suggestions.
I like the dark/light idea for the terrain to show the area covered by the spell and you can add some crumbled undead inside the bright area
