Spike & Amulet of Retribution: Conclusion?

Hello Everyone,

So far the last few months playing with spike and amulet under my house rule hasn't shown to be too terribly broken.

Spike changed to only inflict as much back as his has hits coming at him.
Amulet only inflicts a wound for each 2 defense saves (Round down).

So if spike had the amulet and was attached for 1 hit, he would need to get a crit plus 1 additional defense die to do 2 wounds back.

another thought we had was that the amulet would take up two slots instead of 1, have yet to test that. The above so far has been not so broken, with out nerfing spike or amulet into the ground/removing them

We ran into this problem in our campaign that finished up last night. One player had Pigsy with the amulet, loaded up with armor (and double defense shield for 16 or so defense!) soaking hits.

We played it (incorrectly) allowing players defense vs his auto wounds back.

The thing that really bit us is that I took out all the Monster Characters thinking they were a bit unbalanced, but a few of them have abilities that daze and ignore armor... which would help offset a character with the Amulet of Retribution by ignoring his defense with PVP kills.

I think in the future we are just going to add these characters back in and have the threat of ganging up on players who take the amulet. It's their choice to risk it for the power benefit.

After everything I've read, I think the easiest will be to just remove the card. There were some cards that got removed when BtG was added, so I think I'll just bring one of those in to replace the Amulet.

Does the kills with the amulet of retribution give rewards? Because the rewards rules are under the attack section of the Manual, so I think the kills in the movement fase do not give rewards.
