Ah yes, another British legend!

I\'m shocked you don\'t know who his is Vike. Perhaps he is too odd for mass appeal outside of these shores, but he\'s in the same sort of camp as Monty Python when it comes to important British comedy lunatics!

He was the main writer and a main performer on The Goon show, which is a very influential radio comedy show from ages back.

This is a bit of a classic sketch from them featuring him and Peter Sellers. It might take a wee while to load up.

Other fun facts:

\"I told you I was ill\" is inscribed on his tombstone at his own request. Cool!

He called the Prince of Wales a \'groveling little bastard\' live on TV after receiving a lifetime achievement award and having a praise packed letter from the Prince read out to him. Also cool!

Roald Dahl even wanted him to play Willy Wonka instead of Gene Wilder. That woulda been so sweet!

You What?:)

As far as I know Spike Mulligan never worked with Dudley Moore. I think the guy you mean is the late great Peter Cook. Another two talents lost.
I recently saw a \"biography\" of Dudley Moore and was enthralled by his Classic Piano playing. A lost of people forget how extremley talented he was at the keyboard.

@Vikey: Spike Milligan Have a look Here

Loved that Spike Milligan P*ss take of the BBC\'s financial wastage. It was So relevant when it was done originally, and sadly it\'s still so true today. (Ask Terry Wogan how much he gets paid for doing Children In Need, when others donate their time. (£1,300 per hour) :cussing: ).

\"When I look back, the fondest memory I have is not really of the Goons. It is of a girl called Julia with enormous breasts.\"

Monty Python admit that they wouldn\'t exist if Spike hadn\'t led the way.

My dad got me in to the Goons from an early age but I think I really learned to respect Spike after reading his war diaries (Hitler, My Part In His Downfall et al). To see what he went through and still become one of the most innovative and influential comedians ever is amazing.

In case you didn\'t spot it, I\'m a big fan

T\'was midnight in the classroom, and every desk was shut
When suddenly from the alphabet was heard a loud \"tut tut\"

Said A to B \"I dislike C his manners are a lack
For all i ever see of C is a semi circular back\"

Said D to B \"I disagree, I\'ve never found C so,
From where I stand he seems to be an uncompleted O\"

Spike Milligan, The Little Pot Boiler

That was a book in our house that I read and read and can regurgitate that poem at will.

I must go down to the see again to the lonely sea and sky
I left my vest and socks there, I wonder if they\'re dry
