Stgange things are afoot :eek: I just had one of my replies in another thread show up TWO PAGES ahead of where it should be. In fact, I think it ended up ahead of the actual post I was replying to ??? Also, in the list of threads, I have several listed with the \"last post\" listed as sometime TOMORROW

There may be a serious tear in the space/time continuum :eek:

Edit: SEE THERE! This reply turned up directy under yours instead of at the bottom???

Well we are well into October now. The shops are full of Halloween stuff.

I carve pumpkins every year.

I do them cause I enjoy it, and because they are miserable buggers in my street. So it\'s something for the kids.

Does anyone else carve?

Those are great! Do you roast the pumpkin seeds too? I\'m surprised by how many folks have never heard of such a thing.

Vike - I eat pumpkins seeds but have never done them from pumpkins i\'ve carved, I usually get in such a mess, the kitchen is sprayed with pumpkin juices.

do you use commercial stencils? They sell carving kits here that have stencils in them (and books too) that you can pin on the pumpkin and use as a guide while you are carving.

Great looking gourds.

Next step, tell us your camera settings to get those wonderful pics of the finished product.

Airhead - I\'m a member of a site that makes some fantastic stencils

ZombiePumpkins

you have to pay a small fee each year to join, but it\'s worth it. Stick the stencil on, pin prick around the outline, and carve with various shaped scalpels. Hardest part is ensuring the pumpkin flesh is thin enough to get a good carved shape

As for photographing, I put the camera on a tripod with no flash, and just let the candle light do all the work.

Edit - Obviously make sure you take the photo in a pitch black area.
